The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $93,750 - $137,500 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills. We offer:

This position will be part of the Robotic Systems Development (RSD) team within the Central Technology Office (CTO). CTO plays a key role in our organizational structure by bringing together technical expertise and innovation across the KION Group and its Operating Units. RSD explores the cutting-edge robotic technologies we develop and brings innovative solutions to life. Our diverse teams go beyond technology development, providing comprehensive solutions, services, and lifecycle support. We are dedicated to turning the CTO's vision into reality and empowering our Operating Units to deliver revolutionary solutions to our valued customers.

The RSD Mobile Robots Project Management department is seeking a qualified candidate as a Technical Project Manager. As a Technical Project Manager, you will lead the RSD project team through the KION product creation process, iPEP, to realize in time, cost, and quality delivery of a Mobile Robot and/or Module according to the RSD Development Roadmap. You will be a key liaison between the RSD organization and their counterparts and stakeholders within the greater KION CTO.

This position based in Holland, MI, USA. This is a hybrid position requiring three days in-office and two days flexibility to work remotely from home.

Core Responsibilities:

Lead the RSD Project Team as a Project Lead Automation (PLA) for a Mobile Robot development project and/or as a Project Lead Module (PLM) for a Module development project:

  • Coordinates and runs weekly and/or bi-weekly RSD Project Team meetings to define, develop and monitor delivery of automation product functionality and supporting processes / documentation towards the iPEP Project Team.
  • Creates and maintains of the automation product cost (HKvoll) and automation development and testing timeline for their assigned development project in the designated tool, such as GPS and/or MS Project / Planisware.
  • Tracks and resolves project risks related to the automation product, including escalation of the risks to management team when mitigation actions require management support for resolution. Communicates Risks to the iPEP Project Team.
  • Tracks and resolves project Change Requests related to the automation product, including proposal of changes to the iPEP Project Team when necessary for approval and implementation.
  • Prepare and report on Project Planning and Status to RSD Management on fixed weekly and monthly cadences using designated templates.

Act as key liaison between RSD and CTO development counterparts and stakeholders:

  • Attend and/or run (in case of PLM role) regular iPEP Team meetings for the assigned development project, speaking on behalf of the RSD development team regarding the accountable deliverables related to the automation development scope and timeline.
  • Support and/or prepare (in case of PLM role) monthly iPEP Steering Committee(s) presentation slides, including Risk Management and Change Request information on behalf of the RSD Development Team when relevant.
  • Serve as focal point for communication with and execution of development content towards relevant OU stakeholders in the iPEP Team, such as Product Management, Operations, Procurement, Quality, Commissioning and Service.

Additional Responsibilities:

Work together with other Technical Project Managers in RSD and potentially the greater CTO organization to foster excellence in KION Project Management. This may be creation and release of standard work for Project Management, creation of new governance and/or processes related to Project Management within RSD or KION.

In addition to the assigned development project, this role is also expected to work as part of the overall RSD Project Management Team as an official backup for another team member's development project during agreed extended absences.

Tasks and Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of B.S. / B.A. in a relevant Engineering and/or Business degree, or related field of study.

3-5 years' experience in a technical or non-technical project management or project lead role, not necessarily within a development organization.

Comfortable in standard MS Office applications, such as Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project.

Candidate should have good communication skills which are translatable between working and management levels.

Strong time and task management skills; ability to delegate to project team members.

Ability to work well with others and lead teams through empowerment and clear decision making.

Preferred Qualifications:

MBA in a relevant Engineering and/or Business field.

3-5 years working experience in a Technical Project Management role within a development organization.

Familiarity or working experience in task management tools such as Jira and/or AzureDevops.

Knowledge and/or working experience with automation products such as AGVs and AMRs.

Travel Requirements:

Must be willing and able to travel, including internationally, to our different Operating Units as per the demands of the assigned development project. Travel is anticipated up to 50% during peak development and testing activities of the development project.

Physical Requirements:

Comfortable to be in development / testing R&D areas and/or production manufacturing environments wearing designated PPE as needed.
