DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role you will manage and direct the activities of the Healthcare Accounting Section within the Office of Financial Management, which is responsible for all aspects of accounting and financial reporting postemployment healthcare accounting operations. Your responsibilities will include developing and maintaining controls for detecting misuse and loss of funds by monitoring the third party administrator, maintaining a thorough knowledge of government and financial accounting methods especially as applied to postemployment healthcare; and researching the annual Plan changes for the Health Options Program to ensure the continued use of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures. You will have the opportunity to obtain guidance from Managers for situations involving complex law changes or significant policy changes that impact section operations. Your leadership and financial analysis will ensure timely and accurate payments and recoupments, timely and accurate investment allocations, and accuracy and thoroughness of source documentation. Work involves performing a full range of supervisory duties over a staff of professional accountants and fiscal personnel, examining and analyzing financial data, and monitoring and maintaining premium assistance portion of contributions. You will also play a leadership role in the ongoing enhancements to the new pension administration system and act as business liaison and subject matter expert on all premium assistance benefit, receivables, recoupments, or medical deduction accounting issues. - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year as an Accountant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Three years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience, and graduation from a four-year college or university, including or supplemented by fifteen credits in accounting.
- Four years of bookkeeping experience and fifteen college credits in accounting may be substituted for college graduation. A Master's degree in Accounting or a related field may be substituted for one year of general work experience.
