Maintenance and Facilities Manager

The Maintenance and Facilities Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and upkeep of facility systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and more, ensuring the facility is safe, functional, and compliant with health and safety regulations. This role includes managing preventive maintenance schedules, addressing emergency repairs, and maintaining accurate records of equipment and maintenance activities. The manager also supervises and trains the maintenance staff, coordinates vendor relationships, and leads safety initiatives within the facility. Additionally, they ensure optimal facility operations by planning asset replacements, managing space, and coordinating building repairs or renovations.

1. Facility Management:


  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of all facility systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.).
  • Ensure the facility complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Manage space planning, building repairs, and renovations.
  • Ensure the professional appearance, cleanliness and functionality of the facility at all times.


2. Maintenance and Asset Management:


  • Manage the maintenance team to perform repairs and maintenance tasks efficiently. Contribute to task completion as needed. Use technical expertise to approach troubleshooting of equipment issues suitably; ex diagnosing a faulty sensor vs a control board problem.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for equipment, machinery, and the facility.
  • Respond to and prioritize emergency maintenance requests. May both perform or guide the work needed as part of their day.
  • Oversee contractor or vendor work for specialized repairs and projects.
  • Maintain records of equipment, machinery, and building assets.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
  • Prepare regular reports on facility operations, maintenance activities, and costs for senior management.
  • Plan and oversee the replacement, upgrading, or disposal of assets when necessary.
  • Manage Vendor and Supplier relationships for parts, service, agreements and needs.
  • Ensure accurate inventory tracking of spare parts and critical supplies.


3. Recruit, train, and supervise maintenance staff.
4. Ensure staff are equipped with the necessary tools and skills to perform their roles.
5. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching or corrective actions when needed.
6. Implement safety policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all employees and visitors.
7. Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and workplace standards.
8. Coordinate fire drills, emergency response plans, and safety audits.
9. Lead safety initiatives as related to use and operation of any assets.
10. Adhere to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.
11. Wear personal protective equipment as required based on task being performed.
12. Perform other related duties or projects as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position is responsible for building, developing, mentoring, and performance management of high-performance teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement. This position oversees and manages the maintenance and facilities technicians.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working in a production and office environment. At times, the employee may be exposed to outdoor weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Travel
This position requires regular travel locally for errands or deliveries. Valid driver's license is required. Occasional travel to vendors or suppliers also in scope.
Required Education and Experience


  1. 5 years relevant maintenance and facilities leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  2. Specific hands-on experience in troubleshooting electrical systems, hydraulics, sensors and PLCs.


Preferred Education and Experience

  1. 7+ years relevant maintenance and facilities leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  2. Relevant Post-Secondary Education or Certification.
  3. Experience in electronics or PCBA manufacturing.
