As a Senior Business Systems Administrator/Analyst specializing in Finance Systems at Workiva, you will be a key techno-functional member of the business systems team who maintains, enhances, and drives transformation across our Finance technology landscape. This is a hands-on role focused on the daily administration, design, configuration, maintenance, enhancement, and support of scalable solutions for core financial systems, including ERP, sourcing & procurement, close management, and expense automation.

You will blend deep technical expertise with strong accounting domain knowledge, partnering directly with Accounting, Sourcing & Procurement, and other cross-functional teams. Your work will ensure the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of our systems, empowering our finance teams to excel in a high-growth, SaaS environment.

In short, you will wear two hats:

  • Systems Administrator - You will be the go-to expert for hands-on configuration, system stability, security, integrations, and user support.

  • Systems Analyst - You will partner with accounting stakeholders to gather requirements, optimize workflows, and validate solutions.

What You'll Do

System Administration & Configuration

  • Own the day-to-day administration, configuration, and maintenance of core financial systems, including our ERP (Sage Intacct, Oracle, or Workday), Coupa, BlackLine, Concur, Workiva, and other adjacent systems

  • Perform hands-on configuration to address business needs, from minor tweaks and user requests to major enhancement rollouts.

  • Manage user roles, permissions, and security settings to ensure appropriate system access and segregation of duties.

  • Manage system release cycles and dev/test/prod environment management

  • Proactively monitor system health, performance, and data integrity, identifying and addressing potential issues before they impact the business.

Problem Solving & Support

  • Serve as the primary technical owner and subject matter expert for assigned systems, acting as the first line of defense for user support and troubleshooting.

  • Investigate and resolve system issues and business process challenges.

  • Track and escalate issues with vendors, managing cases to a swift and successful resolution.

  • Lead hypercare efforts during releases

Solution Design & Delivery

  • Support the end-to-end delivery of system enhancements and projects.

  • Translate business needs into technical requirements.

  • Design scalable solutions including detailed specifications, user stories, and use cases for moderately complex business problems.

  • Configure system modules, workflows, custom fields, and dashboards to meet evolving finance requirements.

Business Partnership

  • Build relationships and partner with key stakeholders across the Finance organization to understand their processes, challenges, and evolving needs.

  • Analyze key finance processes (Order-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, Record-to-Report) to identify opportunities to reimagine, optimize, and automate business processes to drive measurable efficiency, control, and user experience improvements

  • Lead requirements gathering, scope management, and design for system enhancements and projects.

  • Help business partners understand and effectively utilize system features.

Testing, Compliance & Documentation

  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and use cases to validate that solutions meet business requirements.

  • Coordinate and support user acceptance testing (UAT), ensuring stakeholders are engaged and prepared.

  • Ensure all system configurations and processes adhere to SOX, ITGC, and internal audit requirements.

  • Create and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, controls, user guides, technical runbooks, and training materials.

  • Support controls implementation, documentation, and audit activities

Change Management & Training

  • Design and deliver effective change communications and user training to drive adoption of new features and processes.

  • Gather user feedback to improve adoption and usability.

Drive Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Stay updated on finance technology trends and best practices, proactively recommending improvements and innovative solutions to drive efficiency and growth.

  • Evaluate, pilot, and recommend innovative solutions for continuous growth.

  • Drive adoption of new system functionalities.

Analytics Enablement

  • Partner with stakeholders to fulfill analytics and reporting requests.

  • Focus on maintaining data integrity to provide reliable business insights.

What You'll Need

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • 4+ years of experience in Finance Systems Administration, Business Systems Analysis, or similar roles supporting Finance/Accounting in a SaaS or enterprise environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience implementing, configuring, and optimizing at least one major ERP platform (Sage Intacct, Oracle, Workday, or SAP)

  • Hands-on expertise with at least two adjacent applications (Coupa, BlackLine, Concur, Salesforce, etc.)

  • Proven track record of designing and delivering scalable, business-critical solutions across Finance domains

  • Experience in a high-growth SaaS or public company environment

  • Process improvement, automation, or data analytics experience within Finance & Accounting

  • Strong understanding of SOX and ITGC controls, with direct experience supporting compliance and audit activities

  • Experience working in or alongside Agile teams, managing requirements and projects in a dynamic environment

  • ERP implementation consulting experience

  • Familiarity with project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence)

  • Exceptional communication, analysis, and documentation skills with a track record of partnering directly with accounting stakeholders

Travel Requirements and Working Conditions

  • <10% Travel for internal meetings

  • Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely and not in a Workiva office

How You'll Be Rewarded

Salary range in the US: $86,000.00 - $138,000.00

A discretionary bonus typically paid annually

Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire

401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits package
