Essential Duties:

  • Perform review of contracts related to NRG's VPP business and gain an understanding of related transaction flows and accounting impacts.
  • Work with other VPP team members to develop required processes and procedures including regional accountants and business operations and in consultation with Accounting Research.
  • Based on resulting operational data, prepare and record monthly and quarterly journal entries supporting NRG's VPP agreements including account reconciliations and analysis of results in accordance with established timelines.
  • Assist in preparation of segment quarter-end close package related to VPP impacts.
  • Assist in review and assessment of NRG's VPP agreements.
  • Quarterly, review documentation and statements provided to and received from third parties related to VPP agreements.
  • Administrative duties related to NRG's monthly close and certification management program which is currently Cadency by Trintech
  • Integration related tasks as a part of NRG's acquisitions, generally focused on master data mappings and other administrative tasks.
  • Liase between Corporate Accounting, Business Operations, Regional Accounting, FP&A, and Accounting Research and other departments.
  • Work with KPMG on VPP related audit requests and support.
  • Ensure recurring processes are developed and clearly documented.
  • Able to assist with ad hoc requests and analysis in the requested timeframe.
  • Crosstrain and serve as back up for other Corporate Accounting tasks, as needed
  • Assist with other special projects as requested.
  • Adhere to all Sarbanes Oxley and internal control requirements.

Working Conditions:

  • Open office environment
  • Position is designated as hybrid, meaning 3 days per week in the office (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday) and two days per week remote.
  • Limited overtime may be required during quarterly close, year-end or as special projects arise.
  • No travel required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degreein accounting with experience in general accounting
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 yearspublic or private accounting experience, including some or all the following: journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, monthly closing process, and monthly reports
  • Good working knowledge of US GAAP
  • Knowledge of accounting software, SAP and HFM/Hyperion preferred.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite, in particular Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting is strongly preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 yearsin accounting specifically with general ledger accounting related areas
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications. Experience with SAP and HFM/Hyperion or similar ERP system preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Proven initiative and a demonstrated ability to learn quickly
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong PC skills include Excel, Word, and Outlook
