Role Summary

As a Certification and Test Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the Charging and Energy test team in Torrance, CA, leading regulatory compliance projects and planning and executing the testing of electric vehicle charging systems. In this role, you will interface with multiple cross-functional teams to ensure regulatory requirements are captured and sufficiently captured in validation plans.


Responsibilities

  • Lead regulatory compliance projects with agencies and test labs, including preparing and filing compliance documentation

  • Participate in design reviews and advise on applicable compliance requirements

  • Work closely with the software and hardware engineering teams to understand test requirements

  • Develop and review design validation plans to ensure regulatory compliance

  • Develop test procedures to define instructions on test setup and execution

  • Work with multiple external lab partners to setup, execute, and monitor testing

  • Participate in design reviews, requirement reviews, DFMEAs, PFMEAs, and Hazard Analyses

  • Support systems engineering to interpret standard requirements


Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field

  • 3+ years of experience leading regulatory compliance projects or validation efforts, heavily incorporating certification requirements

  • Regulatory compliance experience with power conversion equipment, preferably charging systems

  • Prior experience in test plan development, equipment selection, and test execution

  • Hands-on approach to testing, debugging, and troubleshooting

  • Strong technical communication and documentation skills

  • Experience reading and interpreting industry standards such as UL 2202, UL 1741, UL 9741, IEC 61851, MIL-STD-50G or similar

  • Exposure to ISO 17025, ILAC, or A2LA Laboratory accreditation standards and practices a plus

  • 10-20% domestic travel


Pay Disclosure

Salary Range for California Based Candidates: $98,500.00 - $123,100.00 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment.
