Non-Wires Solutions implements customer-sited solutions including battery energy storage, energy efficiency and other distributed energy resources to provide targeted distribution system load relief as an alternative to traditional utility capital projects. This is a great role to demonstrate your ability to drive results, apply cross-disciplinary skills to the clean energy space, collaborate closely with diverse teams, and gain firsthand experience with the clean energy transition.The Clean Energy Senior Specialist, Non-Wires Solutions supports all aspects of the Company's Non-Wires Solutions programs, including design, operations, administration, marketing, performance analysis, reporting, process improvement, customer and stakeholder engagement and leads the identification, development, and execution of these programs. The Clean Energy Senior Specialist will support the implementation of a diverse portfolio of customer sided clean energy solutions including battery energy storage, energy efficiency programs and other distributed energy resources.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Commit to the ideals of developing a proactive, customer-centric culture to foster trust and confidence among customers (both internal and external) and improve value for all our stakeholders.
  • Assist in all aspects of Targeted Demand Management (TDM) program strategy, operations, analysis and reporting for active Non-Wire Solutions (NWS). This includes performing cost/benefit analysis; contract negotiation with customers and vendors; managing program budgets, performance tracking, invoicing, program administration; oversight of the programs implementation vendors and other contractors.
  • Program management including analyzing, monitoring, tracking, and accrual of all Non-Wire Solutions project related costs. Timely and accurate input of project, customer, and accounting information into the designated Non-Wire Solutions database tracking system; monitoring contractor activities for adherence to approved schedules, contract provisions, and project specifications; and conducting quality control and measurement and verification activities as required.
  • Support the development, launch, and evaluation of Non-Wire Solutions by engaging with various market participants, considering the implementation of a variety of innovative solutions (including Energy Storage, distributed generation, and energy efficiency technologies), and finding optimal ways to develop portfolios of these diverse solutions for different areas of the service territory.
  • Assist the development of procurement mechanisms (RFPs, RFIs, etc.) to develop programs to achieve load relief in Non-Wires Solutions targeted areas and achieve companys goals
  • Respond to customer and vendor inquiries and provide excellent customer experience.
  • Analyze project specific customer demographics to identify appropriate Demand Side Management measures and potential load relief attainable via Demand Side Management.
  • Coordinate communication among the Energy Efficiency teams, Targeted Demand Management teams, and Distribution Planning teams, customers and other stakeholders; provide performance reports and information to various Company organizations and governmental/regulatory agencies
  • Engage with State regulators and support the reporting requirements of Non-Wires Solution programs to New York Public Service Commission
  • Work with Delivery Channel Teams and customers to manage the project delivery process including contract negotiation, execution management and/or contract modifications.
  • Work with Marketing, Corporate Affairs, and Market Research & Analytics teams to design and manage outreach efforts to encourage the adoption of innovative solutions by identified target customer groups
  • Coordinate with Evaluation, Measurement & Verification teams and consultants to prepare studies and verify customer sided savings associated with the adoption of innovative solutions in Non-Wires Solutions targeted areas
  • Perform cost/benefit analysis for portfolio optimization of projects including a variety of innovative technology solutions and customer segments, for different areas of the service territory to determine the viability of a Non-Wires Solution to achieve load relief and company goals
  • Lead special projects and/or specific program initiatives targeted at specific levels of the electric transmission and distribution system, for specific customer segments, and/or in collaboration with other Company, state or city programs or state/city entity programs (such as NYSERDA).
  • Manage all required relationships including vendors, customers, as well as internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate activities and cross-functional work with various areas of the Company such as Central and Regional Engineering, Distribution Planning, Resource Planning, Analytics, and Finance, to foster the development and implementation of Non-Wires Solutions into Company or external entity planning.
  • Ensure complete, secure and accurate collection and management of program information and process documentation
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Economics, Information Technology, Business Administration or related field and 3 years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Economics, Information Technology, Business Administration or related field and 2 years of relevant work experience.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to drive results by collaborating with stakeholders to build consensus. Required
  • Strong communications, presentation, writing skills and analytical skills. Required
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, and the ability to see the big picture and attention to detail. Required
  • Ability to make decisions in real-time, under pressure. Required
  • Flexibility to deal with ambiguity and comfortable working in a dynamic environment. Required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Required
  • Knowledge of project management tools. Required
  • Possesses a high degree of initiative. Required
  • Experience in project management roles. Preferred
  • Experience in energy efficiency, energy storage, or other competitive, market driven utility programs Experience with partners and vendors. Preferred
  • Technical writing skills preferred. Preferred

  • Driver's License Required
Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
