Neonatologist

Henry Ford Health System, one of the nation's largest integrated health systems, is seeking a full time BE/BC Neonatologist and join the team as the 7th Neonatologist and 33+ Neonatal Nurse Practitioners.

As part of exciting development, Henry Ford Health has earmarked the growth of its Pediatric services. The vision includes expansion of the inpatient footprint and development of all specialties. Henry Ford Pediatrics as a service line spans care across West Bloomfield Hospital, Macomb Hospital, Wyandotte, Jackson and Henry Ford Hospital, Henry Ford St John's Children's hospital, Rochester, Providence, Southfield and Novi as state of the art Pediatric comprehensive care facilities. The flagship campus, downtown is the location of major investment for the system with its 'Destination Grand'. With an expansive primary care network for Pediatrics, the addition of new as well as growth of existing comprehensive specialty care is in progress.

With a group of 275+ physicians/providers, comprising primary care, specialties, APP and more than 300 support staff, clinical care is provided at 50+ sites, including the 9 Henry Ford acute care hospitals and several state-of-the-art ambulatory centers. There are several Level 3 NICUs and Level 2 Special care nurseries with care provided by a strong team of neonatologists. The inpatient services are supported by a robust hospitalist group.

The HFHS Division of Neonatology ( Henry Ford Medical Group) covers four System hospitals which includes a 35-bed NICU, a LeveI III perinatal regional referral center (2800 deliveries and 500 + admissions /year) at Henry Ford Hospital (HFH) in Detroit and 1500- 2000 deliveries /year, at each of the 3 Level II units, at HF West Bloomfield, HF Wyandotte, and HF Macomb.

Neonatologists and NNPs provide coverage at the Level III as well as the newborn service and coverage at the Level II units (Henry Ford West Bloomfield and Henry Ford Macomb Hospitals) is with Neonatologists (days) and NNPs (nights and weekends) providing 24 hour service. Neonatologists, take Night and Weekend calls for both these hospitals from home. Calls from home for these hospitals are considered moonlighting.

The 3rd Level II (Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital) has a NNP (days), and night and weekend call is in house and is provided by the neonatologists or NNPs. These calls are also considered moonlighting. All moonlighting provides additional remuneration. There is an excellent salary and benefits package for the successful candidate.

An active transport team (NNP, RT and Nurse) provides transport for the Level III Unit in Detroit, where the full range of neonatal intensive care including Pediatric surgery, iNO therapy and Body Cooling are offered.

Faculty have opportunity for academic appointments at Michigan State University and Wayne State University. There is a robust UGME program with medical students from Michigan State and Wayne State University. Medical student, Family Practice resident and NNP education is exciting component of the role. Developmental follow up assessment is provided in the weekly Clinic attended by the neonatologist, a NNP as well as an occupational therapist. The clinic supports the 55 pediatricians in the system clinics and all HFHS high risk discharges from the NICU or Special care nurseries or from the pediatricians' offices. This clinic is being expanded in its function as a NICU discharge clinic to help with multi-disciplinary specialty clinical care as well.
