About the Opportunity

We are seeking to hire a Senior Tax Lead who will report to the Director of Global Tax Compliance. This role involves supporting the preparation of various tax filings and collaborating closely with both the tax team and other departments within WeWork, including Legal, Accounts Payable, Treasury, and Accounting. The Senior Tax Lead will also be the primary contact for tax notices, audit requests, and vendor invoices, and will frequently work with external service providers on budget management and tracking. We are looking for a quick learner with strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a resourceful approach, who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can effectively manage multiple priorities. The ideal candidate will be eager to analyze data and drive results.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and review of corporate and partnership tax returns by gathering information in response to our compliance provider's data request

  • Track and prepare state and local franchise tax filings

  • Apply for business tax registrations, tax identification numbers, and legal entity classification elections for entities in various tax jurisdictions, and maintain tracker to ensure compliance

  • Process and manage tax purchase orders, ad-hoc payments, and invoice approvals

  • Manage the tax department's JIRA ticketing system and respond to tax document requests from various internal departments

  • Assist with audits by compiling information requested and communicating responses

  • Develop tax training materials to be deployed to key functions within the business

  • Drive process improvements in the tax compliance process

  • Assist with special projects and tax planning initiatives

About You

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree

  • 3+years of experience in a corporate tax department and/or public accounting

  • Advanced Microsoft Office G-Suite skills

  • Strong computer knowledge (Excel); Alteryx experience is a plus

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Highly motivated and willing to take on multiple responsibilities at once

  • Able to work comfortably under pressure and meet tight deadlines

  • Work effectively with outside service providers

Compensation & Benefits

Base Pay:$87,000 to $117,000 annually

Incentive Compensation:WeWork employees are eligible to participate in an incentive plan specific to their role. Your recruiter will detail what incentive plan is applicable to this specific role. WeWork incentive plans are subject to the terms of the applicable incentive compensation plan, which will be made available to you after commencing employment. WeWork reserves the right to amend its incentive plans, and nothing in this job requisition or any other document creates a right to a specific incentive plan payment.

Benefits:Full-time employees are eligible for comprehensive benefits (subject to the terms of applicable plans/policies/agreements, which will be made available to you after commencing employment), including: 20 days of PTO, approximately 13 paid holidays, and 80 hours of paid sick time per full calendar year; 16 weeks paid parental leave; competitive healthcare benefits; 401k plan; and life and AD&D insurance.
