Construction Inspector (Maui, HI)

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Construction Inspector to join our team. This role is open to candidates at all experience levels, as we recognize that inspector experience can be difficult to find. The Construction Inspector will be responsible for ensuring that construction projects comply with plans, specifications, codes, and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in the engineering or construction industry, be comfortable working independently, and possess solid computer skills to support digital documentation and communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Inspections: Conduct on-site inspections of construction activities to verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, codes, and safety regulations.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough records of inspections, including daily reports, photographs, and documentation of any issues or discrepancies.
  • Communication: Coordinate with contractors, engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure project quality.
  • Quality Assurance: Monitor materials and workmanship to ensure adherence to project requirements and industry standards.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and address potential issues early to keep projects on schedule and within scope.
  • E-Construction: Utilize computers and digital tools for documentation, reporting, and communication, supporting the industry's shift toward electronic processes.
  • Safety Oversight: Promote and enforce safety protocols on construction sites, reporting any unsafe conditions or practices.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in the engineering or construction industry.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Comfortable using computers for documentation, communication, and reporting (proficiency required, but not expert-level).
  • Experience interpreting construction plans, specifications, and codes is a plus.

Preferred Certifications

  • Certifications in construction inspection, building inspection, or related fields are a plus (e.g., ICC, ACIA, DSA, or similar).
  • DOT sampling and testing certifications desirable but not required.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in construction management, engineering, or related fields is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license to travel to project sites.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.

Compensation:

Pay will be commensurate with experience.
