Responsibilities

Part of Data and Platform Engineering's (DPE) vision and mission is to improve the data experience so that State Farm can become a premier data driven organization and meet the changing expectations of our customers. This team is working on a ground-breaking solution that's completely revolutionizing the way we use data here at State Farm. It's the team full of innovators and dreamers, the ones who aren't afraid to take chances, have fun and do things like they've never been done. We currently have openings for passionate, talented Lead Software Engineer's looking to help take State Farm into the future.

We're looking for individuals who aren't afraid to take risks, who'd thrive in an exciting, innovative, and collaborative environment and most importantly, individuals who are ready to join a team that's truly taking State Farm forward.



Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of software development experience.
  • Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, RDS, IAM, API Gateway, Neptune, Aurora, Dynamo, S3, Step Functions, Infrastructure As Code (Terraform).
  • Experience with Material UI, Typescript, React framework, JavaScript
  • Familiarity with BI tooling such as Quicksight, Power BI, or Qliksense.
  • Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming Principals (Python, Java, C#).
  • Strong knowledge of systems architecture.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Growth mindset.
  • Proficiency with version control systems like Git.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD practices and version controls.
  • Understanding of REST APIs.
  • Experience with testing, including API testing, unit testing, and integration testing.


Our Benefits

Because work-life balance is a priority at State Farm, compensation is based on our standard 38:45-hour work week!

  • Potential starting salary range: $104,000 - $150,000
    • Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience
    • High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience
  • Potential yearly incentive pay up to 15% of base salary

HYBRID: Qualified candidates (in or near hub locations listed below) should plan to spend time working from home and some time working in the office as part of our hybrid work environment.
HUB LOCATION: Bloomington, IL, Dunwoody, GA, Richardson, TX, or Tempe, AZ

REMOTE: Qualified candidates (outside of hub locations listed below) may be considered for 100% remote work arrangements based on where a candidate currently resides or is currently located.
