Overview
Metronome is seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Platform Engineer to lead containerized microservices deployment, management, and optimization across secure AWS environments. You will support mission applications for Joint Cyber Command & Control (JCC2), ensuring scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure that aligns with DoD cybersecurity and DevSecOps practices.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the deployment and management of Kubernetes clusters (EKS) and containerized workloads Orchestrate infrastructure using tools like Terraform, Helm, and CloudFormation Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines and GitOps deployment strategies Apply high availability principles, blue/green deployments, and zero-downtime upgrades Manage performance, patching, and compliance in multi-domain AWS environments Collaborate with developers, cybersecurity SMEs, and infrastructure teams Automate infrastructure with scripting (Java, Bash, etc.) Support and secure the application lifecycle within Kubernetes clusters Troubleshoot issues related to DNS, networking, logging, and monitoring Participate in defining DevOps architecture and standards (e.g., IaC, Policy as Code, CI/CD) Provide subject matter expertise in cloud provisioning, lifecycle management, and platform optimization Support data flow through secure environments including AWS Diode integrations
Required Skills
8+ years of experience in cloud platform engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure automation Expertise with AWS services (EKS, EC2, Lambda, S3, CloudFormation, etc.) Hands-on experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker) Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Helm) Experience with CI/CD tools and version control systems (e.g., Git) Ability to manage secure cloud infrastructure in classified and unclassified environments Strong troubleshooting, scripting, and systems integration background
Certifications
Required:
Preferred (at least two of the following, or equivalent experience):
AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification or training AWS SysOps Administrator Certification or training AWS DevOps Engineer Certification or training
Preferred Skills
Experience in DoD environments and compliance standards Familiarity with AWS Diode, Lambda, and other container-integrated services Hands-on experience in secure, multi-cloud, or hybrid environments Strong understanding of container security, monitoring, and logging best practices
