Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is looking for a dedicated Team Member Health Nurse Consultant to join the team. This role will be PRN; minimum 2 shifts per month. Team Member Health (TMH) hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; no weekends or holidays.

Team Member Health Nurse Consultant Job Responsibilities:



  • Rotate through all 5 hospitals: Inova Loudoun Hospital, Inova Fairfax Medical Campus, Inova Fair Oaks Hospital, Inova Alexandria Hospital, & Inova Mount Vernon Hospital
  • Coordinates the daily operations of employee occupational health programs, clinical services, and administrative functions for area of responsibility/operating unit
  • Provides education, training and resources to ancillary staff members to ensure consistency of practice and policy throughout the system
  • Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to foster the provision of effective health, safety and environmental services and anticipates changes and recommends and implements new policies and work improvement initiatives
  • Coordinates provisions for employee compliance with regulatory requirements, performs preplacement physical assessments on prospective employees, and accurately identifies areas in need of further exploration and evaluation to determine fitness for duty
  • Establishes the medical basis for job restriction requests from employees and/or their medical provider
  • Coordinates and administers immunization and screening programs to reach all qualified candidates as demonstrated by employee compliance
  • Manages employee exposure events in collaboration with the Infection Control Practitioner and conducts post exposure surveillance to assure early detection and treatment of infectious process and educates employees regarding risk of contracting infectious disease in the work place and importance of compliance to post exposure process
  • Manages all aspects of the Inova Drug Free Workplace Policy and serves as the subject matter expert for reasonable suspicion cases
  • Processes all Employee Injury Reports, OSHA logs and associated documents in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with insurance, legal and regulatory requirements
  • Assists with the annual review of EOHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with evidence based occupational health practices and regulatory requirements
  • Serves as a resource and consultant for any workplace health related concerns and represents Inova for any legal matters associated with specific claims
  • May perform additional duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Experience: 3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Certification: BLS; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience: Occupational health experience
  • Other: Must be able to work autonomously and as part of a team
