What to Expect

Tesla Motors is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join the Vehicle Engineering Team, focusing on the design of the Supermanifold Assembly, a critical component of the Tesla heat pump system. This role involves creating innovative heating and cooling components and systems that prioritize efficiency, performance, reliability, and safety. Collaboration with quality, service, manufacturing, validation, and purchasing teams, as well as external suppliers, will be essential to deliver outstanding vehicles that redefine the automotive industry.


What You'll Do
  • Design and package thermal system components to meet system and vehicle requirements while optimizing for efficiency, cost, weight, manufacturability, and serviceability
  • Manage suppliers and projects to ensure timely program deliverables within budget
  • Develop component and system-level requirements based on vehicle-level requirements and customer experience
  • Lead the creation of component specifications, DFMEA, and other technical design documents
  • Develop and execute component and subsystem design verification plans and test methods to validate adherence to requirements
  • Ensure vehicles conform to all motor vehicle safety standards governing thermal system operation
  • Support vehicle programs through the entire lifecycle, including spec development, prototype builds, vehicle testing, and production

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 1 year of full-time or internship experience with a strong track record in design and building
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex design problems under tight timing constraints
  • Strong design, packaging, and 3D modeling skills with proficiency in CATIA preferred
  • Passion for electric vehicles and energy efficiency
  • Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
  • Knowledge of mechanics, structure design, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics

    Expected Compensation
    $92,720 - $206,520/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
