Network Test Coordinator

Position Summary:

As a Network Test Coordinator, you will perform system test and evaluation functions both at land-based test sites and aboard US Navy ships.

Clearance Requirement:

Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:


  • Test and evaluate network monitoring devices and systems
  • Conduct testing on network monitoring devices and architecture
  • Shipboard test and troubleshooting of network-based systems


Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in electrical maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Must have a Secret Level Clearance or Higher
  • Proficiency in OSI layer 1 through 3 network design, troubleshooting, switch configuration, and testing.
  • Experience troubleshooting optical fiber and copper-based network connections, including the use of an OTDR and optical power meters.
  • Strong physical layer troubleshooting skills (familiarity with Siemens & Alcatel assets desired)
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols including:

    • Multicast, UDP, TCP, ICMP, SNMP, IP
    • Ethernet over optical fiber including 10 Base F, 100 Base F, 1000 Base LX.


  • Experience utilizing industry standard network test equipment including network protocol analyzer such as Wireshark or Observer and applying decode and information to test and troubleshoot system performance.
  • Must be capable of set-up, operating, and providing test results on network performance testing using industry standard network test equipment such as Spirent Smartbits and/or Test Center.
  • Must understand network performance principles and have the ability to de-construct network packet information.


Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Background in control systems or US Navy shipboard systems is a plus
  • Ability to read and apply Security Technical Implementation Guidance (STIG) requirements.


Physical Demands and Expectations:

  • Ability to travel up to 30% both inside and outside the continental United States.
  • Work will require underway at-sea time onboard US Naval Vessels.
  • Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting.

    • Climbing of vertical ladders, climbing through shipboard hatches/scuttles, and bending are required at various field activities and during on-site shipboard inspections.


  • Must be able to carry typical test equipment including OTDR, laptop etc.
  • Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance
  • Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
