Additional Job Description: The West Virginia University Health System, the state's largest health system and largest private employer, comprises 18 hospitals throughout the state and bordering states. In addition, it includes five institutes, as well as providing management services for other local hospitals through affiliate agreements. The West Virginia University School of Medicine (WVUSOM) Department of Family Medicine Residency Program trains family physicians to deliver comprehensive, coordinated care. Our program currently includes 18 Residents and 1 Population Health Fellow, offering extensive clinical experience across two primary care sites, Sundale Nursing Home, and the WVU Medicine Hospital System. The Department of Family Medicine Advocacy Fellowship Director (0.30 FTE/0.70 cFTE) is responsible for the Department's program-wide curricular elements in family medicine advocacy. This role ensures residents and fellows are trained in the multidimensional aspects of advocating for patients and communities within local, state, and national systems. The Director works collaboratively with the Vice Chair of Education, Residency Program Director, and central GME leadership. The Advocacy Fellowship Director reports directly to the Department Chair. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidates must have completed a family medicine residency program and be board eligible/certified in Family Medicine. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
