Georgia-Pacific is now hiring for Saw Shop Tech Op III - Sawmill to join our Lumber facility in Warrenton, GA!

Salary:

* Starting pay is $ 23.50/hour, based on experience.

* You will have the ability to increase your compensation based on skills and contribution to the overall performance of the mill.

Shift:

  • 12 hour rotating shift (3-week repeating cycle as below)

Shift Hours: 5:15 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. or 5:15pm - 5:30am

* Work Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (day)

* Off Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday

* Work Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (night)

* Off Friday

* Work Saturday, Sunday, Monday (night)

* Off Tuesday, Wednesday

* Work Thursday, Friday (day)

* Off Saturday (repeat the cycle)

What You Will Do

* Ability to follow procedures for standard practices in the saw shop, including repairing/rebuilding saw guides and replacing (or assisting with replacing) saws and guides.

* Understand Optimization systems and Si-Cam.

* Ensure a completed "in-spec" set of OLI and TBL guides/saws are always ready to put in the machine waiting on the floor.

* Have a solid understanding of the sawmill process with the ability to troubleshoot lumber quality issues and make appropriate recommendations to the operations team.

* Ability to adhere to a structured quality/saw shop schedule to ensure the mill runs smoothly and produces quality products.

* Ability to complete quality control documentation and store/maintain on website and/or local folders.

* Work with Alignment Team on chip head setup, calibrations, alignments, and other Canterline mechanical health checks.

* Adhering to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies and procedures and actively participating in the safety program.

* Ability to work well on a team and communicate amongst teammates, production, and/or supervisor when issues arise that need to be addressed.

* Ensure the work area (Saw Shop and all storage areas) is neat and organized.

* Working with HMI's

* Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • 1 year experience in manufacturing, production, or industrial environment
  • 6 months experience in an advanced operator/precision maintenance role.
  • Experience using micrometers and calipers

What Will Put You Ahead

  • At least 2 years operating machinery in a Lumber mill.
  • Saw Shop experience
  • Sawmill process knowledge.
  • Experience operating and interpreting HMIs and PLCs in a manufacturing environment.
  • Lumber or wood products manufacturing experience
  • Experience performing machine maintenance.
