SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Supervisor will lead and coordinate the maintenance team during assigned shifts in a high-paced chemical production environment. This position is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and timely maintenance of plant equipment and systems to support continuous operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, proven leadership skills, and a commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of maintenance technicians, mechanics, and electricians on shift.
  • Prioritize maintenance tasks, assign work, and follow up to ensure timely completion of emergency repairs.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are performed safely and in compliance with PSM and site-specific safety protocols.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting and technical support for mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Monitor equipment performance and coordinate with production to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct shift handovers, daily toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
  • Assist in training, mentoring, and evaluating maintenance personnel.
  • Maintain accurate shift records, work orders, and equipment logs using the CMMS (SAP).
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including root cause analysis and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM).
  • Communicate effectively with other departments, including production, engineering, and safety.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:



  • High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational certification or associate degree in industrial maintenance, mechanical/electrical technology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a chemical or process manufacturing environment.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory or lead technician experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems, including:

    • Gearboxes - alignment and lubrication practices.
    • Mechanical seals - installation, inspection, and troubleshooting.
    • Bearings - installation, lubrication, and condition monitoring.
    • Pumps - centrifugal and positive displacement, including alignment and seal replacement.
    • Couplings and shaft alignments - using laser alignment tools.
    • Conveyors and rotating equipment - maintenance and repair.
    • Valves and piping systems - including flange integrity, torque specifications, and leak prevention.
    • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems - troubleshooting actuators, control valves, regulators and hydraulic cylinders.
    • Steam systems and heat exchangers - routine maintenance, performance checks and replacements.


  • Demonstrated experience implementing and enforcing Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of Safe Work Permits, including hot work, confined space, and line break.

  • Proficient in reading technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with CMMS systems (SAP) and basic computer proficiency (MS Office, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and respond to emergencies as needed.
