Job Description

Position Description:



Ameritas is currently searching for an Assistant Actuary-Annuity GAAP Valuation to join our team. This position contributes to the growth and financial stability of the organization through active collaboration within valuation and across functional areas. The incumbent is responsible for performing quarterly valuations of our annuity products on a GAAP basis, developing models that are used in financial reporting, and providing analysis of our financial statements.

Position Location:



  • This role could be hybrid or remote based on proximity to an office location.



What you do:



  • Quarterly GAAP/LDTI valuation for Annuities and Retirement Plans.
  • Develop LDTI reporting processes and create analytical tools to deliver greater management insights into financial results.
  • Contribute to the regular development and maintenance of actuarial models in Prophet.
  • Collaborate within the organization to provide valuation insights into product pricing, assumption setting, financial planning, and other initiatives.


  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards in actuarial practices and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of actuarial analyses, methodologies, and assumptions.



What you bring:



  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or equivalent experience.
  • ASA (Associate, Society of Actuaries) designation required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years valuation and/or pricing actuarial experience required, preferably with a focus on annuity products.
  • Advanced knowledge of actuarial mathematics.
  • Experience working on GAAP financials with preference for annuity LDTI experience, including DAC, LFPB, and MRB valuation.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial and modeling software, FIS Prophet preferred.
  • Experience with data management and analytic tools (SQL, PowerBI, or similar) preferred.
  • Strong technical writing skills and effective verbal communication.
  • Superior analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills and a desire to learn.

About this Position's Pay
The pay range posted reflects a nationwide minimum to maximum covering all potential locations where the position may be filled. The final determination on pay for any position will be based on multiple factors including role, career level, work location, skill set, and candidate level of experience to ensure pay equity within the organization. This position will be eligible to participate in our comprehensive benefits package (see above for details). This position will be eligible to participate in our Short-Term Incentive Plan with the annual target defined by the plan.
