National Grid is hiring an Enterprise Integration Director. This is a hybrid role that can be based in Waltham, MA or New York.

Job Purpose

We are seeking a Enterprise Integration Director to join our Chief Data Office team.

This crucial leadership role will optimize data integrations across major programmes, evolve National Grid's enterprise view of data and our strategic approach to integrating data across major platforms and reduce complexity in our approach.

This role has several core elements:

1) Analysis of necessary data flows to identify interdependencies that span our technology transformation portfolio, highlighting common critical data elements

2) Collaboration with architects and engineers to ensure integration patterns are developed and deployed in line with reference architecture

3) Strategic management and forward governance of integrations to ensure designs and delivery are optimal for delivering complex technology transformation programmes. This includes the authority to approve cross-program integration design before development begins.

4) Accountable for the maintenance and evolution of National Grid's:

a. integration reference architecture

b. integration patterns and best practices

c. integration architecture design templates

d. roadmap to improve integration services over time

The core outcome that this work will support is to reduce the time and cost of technology transformation programmes by optimising the capture of critical data elements and the integrations that serve them across our organisation. The ideal candidate will have experience managing data integrations within a large enterprise, of promoting good governance through data contracts or a similar approach, and of leading cross-functional initiatives to realise value through unlocking data.

Key Accountabilities
  • In collaboration with architects, evolve National Grid's integration reference architecture and integration architecture design templates to scale with the enterprise's rapidly changing integration needs
  • Lead, develop and ultimately deploy the approach for integration management and governance across enterprise programmes
  • In collaboration with integration platform owners, develop scalable integration platform services roadmaps aligned with, and designed to meet the evolving needs of the programs in National Grid's roadmap
  • Develop and implement a strategy to swiftly identify critical data elements using conceptual models and data designs provided by project teams
  • Identify and track data interdependencies in order to optimise integrations and reduce complexity
  • Collaborate with architecture colleagues (Enterprise, Domain, Solution, Data) to refine agreed patterns for system integrations
  • Approve integration designs for major programmes, ensuring that specific initiatives follow the appropriate reference architecture, bringing together Chief Architects, System Owners, Solution Architects and Platform Leads
  • Lead the design and implement a comprehensive integration catalogue, detailing the integrations/APIs available across major programmes and documenting flows, lineage and dependencies
  • Lead in the definition of metadata standards and management approaches, ensuring consistency across integrations
  • Ensure that delivery proceeds according to agreed designs and support project teams by acting as a point of escalation and guidance in the event of issues
  • Facilitate cooperation and coordination between programmes with respect to data integration. Ensure that best practices and lessons learned are shared.
  • Communicate defined processes and guidelines across applicable teams and business areas and enforce procedures mandatory to all data and integration changes
  • Chair the governance forum to manage cross-program data integrations
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience gained in industry
  • 8+ years' experience in enterprise data, with exposure to data architecture, data governance, data modelling and systems integration
  • An ability to foster collaboration across programmes
  • Knowledge and experience of data integration approaches, API management, batch ingestion, streaming
  • Knowledge of architectural practices and how they relate to integration design
  • Experience in a leadership role in data governance or data management, with a focus on leading and executing major data programmes with substantial integrations
  • Familiarity with data catalogs, data contracts and metadata management
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Leveraging high emotional intelligence and decision-making frameworks, a demonstrated ability to make complex design decisions with a diverse set of stakeholders who may have competing objectives
  • Experience in an asset-heavy industry such as utilities, energy or manufacturing is preferred

Salary

Brooklyn: $206k - $242k a year

Waltham: $192k - $226k a year
