Substation Lead Designer

The Opportunity

Ulteig is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Lead Designer opening. The Lead Designer supports an assigned group of engineers and technicians by providing technical drafting and design support for infrastructure related designs with limited supervision.

What You'll Do

Successful candidates will design and develop plans for infrastructure projects by drawing accurate 3D models on a given software platform. Utilize knowledge of design and 3D modeling to provide technical guidance to other technicians.

What We Expect from You

• Two year technical degree in Technical Drafting or equivalent
• 10 or more years of infrastructure related experience required. Substation experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with 3D software programs such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Bentley, Solidworks, Revit, and SketchUp as well as graphic design programs such as Adobe Photoshop along with a strong ability and willingness to support, train, and mentor junior technicians.
• Ability to learn and successfully apply company, client and projects standards and procedures
• Ability to successfully collaborate and communicate with individuals in a team environment
• Detailed drafting experience with substation electrical equipment layout, conduit design, grounding design, lighting design, lightning protection design, protection one-line diagrams, schematics and interconnection wiring diagrams using AutoCAD.
• Thorough understanding of site layout logistics as it can relate to substation equipment layout for efficient drafting and ease of construction
• Proven experience in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Access)
• Good organization and communication skills to assure projects are completed on schedule
• Must be able to work independently
• Must have permanent authorization to work in the US

Target Base Compensation Range for this role is $91,100-$123,000
