Summary: This role is specifically for Cardiac MRI. Hours: Monday - Friday; 6:30am-3:00pm *This position qualifies for a $15,000 commitment incentive which will be paid over a three (3) year work commitment. Learn more about the incentive program here:https://jobs.unchealthcare.org/pages/imaging-commitment-incentive-program Responsibilities: Acts in a subject-matter expert role with advanced knowledge of MR protocols, policies, and procedures. Is a department point of contact for MR protocol development and continuous monitoring of protocols to ensure optimal image quality. Provides expert professional or department knowledge pertaining to MR safety. 1) Assists the radiologist/cardiologist in performing complex MR Cardiac imaging including expertise establishing and adjusting imaging, scan and contrast parameters. Provides standardization and training to MR Tech Level I's and collaborates with radiology/cardiology on imaging techniques to improve imaging protocols and patient care. 2) Assists the radiologist in performing high-risk invasive diagnostic techniques including but not limited to, breast/needle loc biopsies, Lymphangiograms, Deep Brain Stimulator (DBS) placement pre-surgery planning, MRguided grid placement for post-surgery, and MR-guided Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy (LITT) ablation for tumor and epilepsy. Additionally, demonstrating competence by contributing input for alternative approaches and adjustment of scan parameters. 3) Evaluates for any contra-indications, such as medication/implantable devices, insufficient patient preparation or the patient's inability, or unwillingness to tolerate the procedure, notifying care teams and coordinating appropriate care, prior to the patient's arrival, if possible. Works with Radiologists, device representatives, nursing and other providers to identify patient needs and device specific MR scan conditions to complete exam safely or discuss alternative exam options. 4) Recognizes diagnostic characteristics of normal and abnormal scans, anatomy, and questionable findings, alerting Radiologist for escalation of and/or additional care. 5) Demonstrates ability to manipulate parameters for MR Gated Cardiac exams, including but not limited to proper manipulation of monitoring devices and competency manipulating both equipment and computer parameters.Job Profile This job profile is intended to provide a representation of responsibilities required. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this profile. 6) Analyzes scan data throughout the course of the examination so that a comprehensive exam is completed and sufficient data is provided to the physician; along with any notes regarding complications that may have impacted quality of scan/images. 7) Triages care for general anesthesia (adult/pediatric) and Pediatric Sedation exams and provides education for care teams, ensures optimal parameters, equipment settings, contrast administration and post-processing of images. 8) Obtains images per protocols, manipulates images according to protocols, performs multi-planar reformation (MPR) and 3D Maximum Intensity Projections (MIP) of image data, demonstrates a thorough knowledge of MR Physics, and selects appropriate MR acquisition parameters for optimal images quality. 9) Administers IV and oral contrast to adult and pediatric patients according to protocols, establishes intravenous lines, administers IV contrast following safe and proper injection procedures, follows correct procedure to determine contrast eligibility, checks appropriate lab values (if warranted) before contrast injection per protocol. Other Information Other information: Professional Experience Requirements: * Three (3) years of experience as an MRI Tech Must complete all departmental specific competencies within twelve (12) months from the date of hire, as well as complete all annual modality competencies to maintain MRI Technologist II.
