Job Summary

The Audio Visual Technician I is responsible for operational support and maintenance of peripherals, AV control programs, and computers. Responsible for set-up, breakdown, and moderation of events.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs peripherals, AV control panels, and computers.
  • Resolves internal user problems and ensures correct operation of audio visual equipment.
  • Maintains parts inventory and logs all service/repair activity.
  • Processes orders, logs, and controls loan equipment inventory.
  • Tracks tickets in work order system.

Other Duties:

  • Serves as essential personnel and provides assistance in the event of an emergency on campus.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

  • This position requires a high school diploma and one year of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Experience in multimedia technical system support, helpdesk support, or other closely related experience.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in an area of appropriate specialization.
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Experience with technical support of computer and multimedia systems; operating and troubleshooting classroom media presentation systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and ability to manage audio visual control equipment such as Crestron/AMX/Extron.
  • Knowledge of desktop computers and basic networking concepts.
  • Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
  • Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations when numerous and competing demands are involved.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively within the community and willingness to contribute to a team effort.
  • Ability to operate personal computers with proficiency and to learn new applications and systems.
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments.
  • Ability to provide professional customer service.
  • Ability to install and operate sound systems for events.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
