Position Overview

Pantheon Data is seeking a Senior Front-End Engineer with experience using AI to generate code and enhance interfaces to join our growing team. In this individual contributor role, you will lead the design and development of highly interactive, real-time UI/UX for our AI-driven platforms in support of Federal Government and military clients. You'll leverage tools like Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, and Copilot to accelerate development, focus on architectural tradeoffs, and deliver powerful user experiences. Your work will directly impact how users interact with next-generation chatbots and intelligent agents in fast-paced, innovation-driven environments.

What We're Looking For:

  • A senior-level engineer who thrives in autonomous, high-trust environments.
  • Someone who uses LLM tools to improve workflow efficiency but also knows their limitations.
  • A UX-focused builder who can craft intuitive, responsive interfaces for complex AI behavior.
  • A systems thinker who can translate abstract requirements into scalable, maintainable front-end systems.
  • A continuous learner-excited by evolving LLM technologies, frontend innovations, and better user experience paradigms.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain performant front-end systems using React, TypeScript, and modern frameworks like Next.js or Vite.
  • Own UX design implementation from wireframes to polished UIs using Figma or similar tools.
  • Develop real-time UI features using technologies such as WebSockets, SSE, live updates, and event streams.
  • Utilize AI coding tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot) to offload repetitive tasks and enhance code quality and delivery speed.
  • Drive and implement LLM-based UI interactions: chat history, streaming responses, prompt engineering flows, and fallback logic.
  • Architect scalable and maintainable front-end component systems that align with product goals and long-term codebase health.
  • Translate vague or evolving product requirements into actionable roadmaps and implementation plans.
  • Collaborate effectively with backend teams-understanding API design, authentication, microservices, networking, and system integration patterns.
  • Advocate for design best practices, performance optimization, and modern front-end architecture.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years professional, hands-on experience as a front-end engineer, including senior-level responsibilities and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Deep expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript, with strong knowledge of React and modern front-end ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Figma or similar tools for UI/UX development and iteration.
  • Experience building real-time front-end systems (WebSockets, SSE, event streaming, etc.).
  • Strong fluency with AI-enhanced developer tools (Cursor, Copilot, Claude Code, etc.).
  • Solid understanding of front-end architecture, component systems, performance, maintainability, and scalable design.
  • Proven ability to lead delivery of complete features from ambiguous inputs to shipped product.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Product mindset-able to balance UX quality with fast iteration cycles in AI-native applications.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and organized with a strong commitment to quality.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact clearly and succinctly in written and oral presentations
  • Ability to meet deadlines and produce quality work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite software, including Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Working knowledge of Agile Scrum methodology.
  • Experience with project tasking tools like JIRA/Confluence.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior developers.
  • Experience designing or developing LLM/chatbot user interfaces.
  • Familiarity with LangChain, Vercel AI SDK, or other LLM-focused front-end frameworks.
  • Comfortable integrating OpenAI, Hugging Face, or similar model APIs.
  • Knowledge of back-end systems and databases, API integration, authentication, and microservice collaboration.
  • Experience building or experimenting with AI-native tools such as embedding visualizations, retrieval-based UIs, or prompt IDEs.
  • Working knowledge of Python or backend-friendly scripting languages.
  • Contributions to open-source, GitHub projects, or AI-related personal prototypes.
