Position Summary
The LRUT Technician is responsible to perform Long Range Ultrasonic Testing on pipelines and structures for corrosion and defect detection. The role involves the setup, calibration, and execution of LRUT equipment in accordance with industry standards and project specifications. The technician will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of collected data, reporting results, and maintaining equipment. This position will be reporting to Project Manager and based at Papua New Guinea
Duties And Responsibilities
FUNCTIONS ESSENTIAL
- Ensuring that Oceaneering's HSE Management System and expectations are fully implemented with Regional Operations and compliant with local regulations.
- Performing tasks under the Supervision of Level III personnel
- Selecting the NDT technique from approved processes for the test method to be used
- Defining the limitations of application of the testing method
- Translating NDT codes, standards, specifications and procedures into NDT instructions adapted to the actual work conditions.
- Setting up, calibrating, and verifying NDT equipment settings
- Interpreting and evaluating results according to applicable standards, codes, specifications, or procedures
- Preparing written instructions
- Reporting the results of NDT
- Carrying out and supervising all tasks at or below NDT Technician Level II
GENERAL

Qualifications
REQUIRED
- Certified in LRUT (e.g., TWI/Plant Integrity or equivalent).
- Relevant state Radiation Licence (desirable)
- Welding Inspection (desirable)
- Coatings Inspection (desirable)
- ISO 9712 Level II Magnetic Particle (MT) or equivalent and
- ISO 97012 Level II Liquid Penetrant (PT) or equivalent plus:
- Radiographic Testing (RT) and/or - Ultrasonic Testing (UT) - Minimum of two of the following:
- Eddy Current Welds (ETW) (desirable) - Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) - Time of Flight Diffraction (TOFD) - TBOSIET
- Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on LRUT experience in the oil & gas, petrochemical, or industrial sectors.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in operational environments as an NDT Technician at specified level
- Experience in all qualified testing methods
- Have a general knowledge of other NDT methods, product manufacturing and inspection technology used by the Company performing NDT.
- Experience in completing NDT worksheets and reports.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
- Familiarity with related NDT methods is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Willing to travel and work in remote or offshore locations.
- Good communication and report-writing skills
- Comprehensive computer skills
- Knowledge of the Oil & Gas Industry including related Legislation, Acts and Regulations, Industry Standards and Codes
- Knowledge of NATA requirements
- Familiar with QA/QC systems and procedure
- Ability to maintain effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work tasks/environment.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
- Knowledge of safety standards (e.g. Step Back 5x5, JSEA, HSEQ systems etc.)

WORKING CONDITIONS This position is considered OFFSHORE which is characterized as follows.
- Outdoors majority of the time on work site, day or night. Some indoor office for reporting.
- Requires working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment.
- Frequently the humidity is above 90%, noise is over 85 decibels, and the light is intense/glare.
- Potential exposure to open fire/flames/sparks on adjacent work
- Exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases at work site
- Work surface is stable, height is elevated. Use of ladders and scaffold for some access.
- Confined space required but infrequent.
