In this position, you will work collaboratively with a Senior Planner, Project Manager, Planning Manager, or Director on projects ranging from private development to public agency projects. Clients include private developers, municipalities, government agencies, and other stakeholders such as nonprofits or property owners.

Responsibilities

    Perform zoning code, land development regulation, and comprehensive plan research, and apply standards to site-specific development proposals, with limited guidance from senior staff.
  • Prepare Planning Reports, including due diligence reports, site feasibility studies, and justification statements, with limited guidance from senior staff.
  • Assist with the development of planning studies and reports in support of new and updated plans and policies.
  • Prepare submittal documents, including rezoning, comprehensive plan amendments, development order amendments, variances, and site plan approval applications.
  • Work with WGI designers to apply code and land use regulations, and address agency comments.
  • Collect, interpret, analyze a variety of data, and prepare maps, charts, graphs, and other illustrative material for a variety of audiences.
  • Prepare presentation material, such as PowerPoint presentations, graphics, and maps.
  • Offer solutions to planning issues.
  • Write and edit technical reports.
  • Assist senior staff with project coordination with clients and other consultants.
  • Act as a liaison to government agencies or the public for our clients;
  • Representation at public hearings, development review meetings, community outreach events, and other meetings as needed.
  • Comply with quality control procedures.
  • Works with mid-level planners to develop deliverables under the direction of a Project Manager on the Urban + Community Planning or Land Development Teams.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or related field from an accredited four-year college or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated 1+ years in progressively responsible public and private planning experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret land development regulations for different municipalities.
  • Prepare presentation material, such as PowerPoint presentations, graphics, and maps.
  • Excellent writing and oral skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum oversight and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/deadlines at one time.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Graphic abilities (AutoCAD, GIS, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.) are a plus.
  • Night and weekend work may be required.
  • AICP Candidate or AICP certification is desirable.
  • Travel to other office locations or client locations may be required.
