What You Will Do: As a Safety Coordinator, you will play an essential role within our Safety department, reporting to the Safety Manager. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with monthly Safety Committee and Safety Steering Committee meetings.
- Maintain necessary compliance records.
- Assist with safety audits and inspections.
- Provide support to the Safety Manager in assisting with:
- Develop & maintain databases or other safety platforms including learning management systems (LMS) to document & track safety and health training requirements for all employees and contractors.
- Weekly, monthly and quarterly reports.
- Coordinate required employee training internally and externally.
- Maintain and update Risk & Safety Share Point site.
- Update presentations, programs, materials and curriculum.
- Assist in compiling and reviewing weekly or monthly Safety emails, newsletters, posters, tailgate meetings and other safety related communication tools.
- Assist in the preparation of safety presentations, training and New Hire Safety orientation.
- Provide assistance to other program staff and handle other duties as assigned.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Ability to manage multiple projects through completion.
What You Will Bring:
- Associate Degree or equivalent work experience.
- Board of Certified Safety Professional (BCSP) certification preferred.
- Two years of relevant work experience.
- Experience in natural gas industry or construction industry preferred.
- Must be able to pass federally required initial and continuous Operator Qualifications training.
- Must possess a valid Alaska Driver's License and be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the ENSTAR's Driving Policy.
- Ability to pass a drug, background, past employment, and driving record screening.
Preferred skills and qualifications:
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management, staff, customers, and governmental agencies.
- Considerable knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and database development and management skills.
- Ability to learn, develop, and use new software and database applications.
- Basic knowledge of occupational safety as it relates to construction or general industry.
- Ability to conduct field checks on employees working in ENSTAR facilities or at external job sites.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively understand and communicate policies and procedures.
- Ability to maintain records and to prepare periodic reports from such records.
- Must be detail oriented with superior organizational, information management, and follow-up skills.
- Proven organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate data, compile statistics and prepare reports, graphs, tables and charts.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced setting, process work rapidly, set priorities, work under pressure, and follow through with assigned tasks with limited supervision.
- Ability to analyze information, use sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality when needed.
