Description The Department of Statistics & Data Science at Carnegie Mellon University (https://www.cmu.edu/dietrich/statistics-datascience/index.html) invites applications for a full-time; 9-month Special Faculty - Postdoctoral Researcher from August 16, 2025 thru May 15, 2026 to contribute to the department's computing curriculum and experiential learning initiatives. The Department is seeking candidates with a passion for Statistics and/or Data Science and a desire to make a significant impact on the Department's educational mission. We are looking for a candidate who will develop into a creative and effective educator and researcher to contribute to our departmental missions. A successful candidate will be expected to have strong teaching skills. We welcome applicants working in all areas of statistics and data science, as well as related interdisciplinary fields. Additional responsibilities may include engaging with industry partners. Carnegie Mellon Statistics & Data Science is world-renowned for the significance of its contributions to statistical theory and practice and for its outstanding interdisciplinary applied research. The Department is also widely recognized for advancing the teaching of Statistics and Data Science and for the excellence of our undergraduate program, with a large number of undergraduate majors and popular joint undergraduate programs in statistics and machine learning, and in statistics and economics. We also have two successful Master's programs and a thriving Ph.D. program that attract exceptional students from around the world. We also recently launched an online certificate program in data science as well as support both summer undergraduate programs and high school data science camps. Qualifications Master's or Doctorate degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent amount of professional experience. The instructor should be a practitioner or academic with direct experience with the topics to be covered. Recent experience in teaching prior statistics and/or data science courses at the college/university level preferred.
