Job Summary |
The WindFluX Laboratory (https://labs.utdallas.edu/windflux/) at the University of Texas at Dallas (
UTD) is seeking a Post-doctoral Researcher with expertise in atmospheric turbulence, marine atmospheric boundary layer (
MABL), scanning Doppler wind LiDAR, and sea spray aerosols. This position is for up to one year, then it can be renewed based on mutual interest and satisfactory performance. The Postdoc will work directly with Dr. Giacomo Valerio Iungo |
Minimum Education and Experience |
Ph.D in a related field. |
Preferred Education and Experience |
The ideal candidate meets the following requirements:
- Ph.D. in mechanical, aerospace, environmental engineering, or a closely related field;
- Advanced knowledge of scanning Doppler wind LiDARs;
- Advanced knowledge in common statistical and spectral analyses;
- Knowledge of Matlab and Python;
- Preferred: experience with field experiments;
- Good writing and communication skills;
- Good teamwork skills, capabilities to coordinate and supervise a small pool graduate and undergraduate students.

To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position. |
Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
The successful candidate will focus on post-processing of LiDAR measurements performed in the
MABL, continuing the data collection, and maintenance of the
UTD WindFluX mobile LiDAR station. The project involves the use and further development of models for predicting with wind velocity field, turbulence statistics, and the concentration as sea spray aerosols |
