The Senior Maintenance Manager is a key member of the plant leadership team, responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive maintenance and reliability strategy that ensures safe, efficient, and sustainable plant operations. This role oversees all maintenance activities, with a focus on maximizing equipment uptime, improving asset reliability, optimizing preventive maintenance programs, and leading a team of maintenance professionals.This position reports to the Plant Director.

What you bring to the party:



  • Direct the efficient maintenance and improvement, installation, and safe operation of food processing equipment in compliance with company, State, and Federal policies; procedures, and regulations including OSHA, FDA, SQF, AIB, EPA, GMP, NFPA, NEC and other code and regulatory agencies.
  • Work with the operations team to establish production line operating metrics such as efficiencies, uptime and reliability.
  • Provide Technical support (related to reliability/maintenance services) for all production equipment throughout the facility.
  • Assure lines are mechanically capable of meeting standard operating rates and reliability and improve up time and reliability for all lines.
  • Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintains an appropriate and adequate supply of inventory and parts.
  • Identifies and develops plans to improve equipment designs or department procedures to maximize asset availability.
  • Drives Plant asset integrity and reliability program, including proactive maintenance programs, such as predictive maintenance programs, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), maintenance scheduling, root cause analysis, improvement through Lean Six Sigma techniques, and other best practices.
  • Optimize cost through effective budget planning and management. Identify and implement cost-saving ideas for facility maintenance.
  • Optimize spare parts inventory and work order management through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Interface with vendors and contractors providing services to the facility to ensure thecompany's needs are met.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a proactive maintenance and reliability program that reduces downtime and supports production goals.
  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring maintenance activities support food safety, regulatory compliance, and cost-efficiency.
  • Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget, tracking performance to plan and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Responsible for a team of technicians, including performance and compensation management, training, coaching, discipline and career development.
  • Direct, coach, and develop a team of maintenance supervisors, planners, and technicians, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and technical excellence.
  • Provide training and mentorship to build technical skill sets in troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and root cause analysis.
  • Ensure proper staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation for 24/7 plant operations.
  • Performs other job-related projects, duties, and assignments as directed by Plant Management. Other duties may be assigned due to business needs or special circumstances which may require reassignment to other departments or other job duties.


Desired Technical/Functional Skills:



  • Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance, reliability-centered maintenance, and CMMS systems.
  • TPM and CMRP preferred with asset management best practices
  • Significant hands-on experience in leading maintenance teams.
  • Significant record of achievement with regard to lean manufacturing support, continuous improvement, and breakdown reduction.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Ability to perform data manipulation and analysis using Microsoft Office suite.
  • Applicable systems and software knowledge.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to create a culture of accountability and teamwork.


Education and/or Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 7 years supervisory and people management experience
  • 10+ years of maintenance leadership experience in food manufacturing or a similar high-speed, regulated production environment.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience in management (preferably in food processing).
  • Demonstrated success in managing budgets, leading teams, and delivering measurable improvements in equipment uptime.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or TPM methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
