Position Summary:

The Director of Applications Engineering is responsible for managing and leading a team of Application Engineers to support the growth of Cirtec's Engineering Services business and development of new technologies and capabilities for the company. This position works closely with other functional leaders to establish technological strategies and implement initiatives to develop and support high growth accounts.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Serve as the principal technical contact with strategic customers during the business development process and collaborate actively with business development team to engage new customers to specify project requirements and effectively communicate Cirtec's capabilities to customers
  • Manage, mentor and provide ongoing training to a team of Application Engineers to effectively interpret customer requirements, define scope, timeline, and budget for new development programs, and prepare high-quality budgetary development proposals to customers
  • Manage the performance of the Applications Engineering team by establishing and monitoring key metrics
  • Work closely with business development team and engineering leadership to understand challenges and implement initiatives to support strategic and high growth customer accounts
  • Partner with business development team as an integral part of the pre-sales customer engagement team to drive increased close rates and excellent customer experience
  • Communicate new and potential revenue growth opportunities and risks to sales for engineering services
  • Understand and effectively communicate emerging technologies, market trends, customer strategies, competitive intelligence and overall market landscape to internal stakeholders
  • Lead creation of technical strategies to improve company's development and manufacturing capabilities
  • Guide the program management team during development program kick-offs and planning phases
  • Guide the development teams to identify and mitigate technical risks, and lead brainstorm sessions and root cause analysis to address technical risks and challenges
  • Collaborate with functional engineering teams to ensure alignment during product development and successful execution of development programs
  • Lead, and participate in, continuous improvement initiatives of company's design control and product development procedures
  • Communicate with strategic suppliers and external partners, and build strong business relationships
  • Provide technical expertise at key customer meetings, tradeshows, plant tours upon request



Must Have:



  • BS in Biomedical / Mechanical / Electronics / Computer engineering discipline with at least 15 years of experience within the medical device industry
  • Must have experience working on medical device development projects from concept design through verification/validations and transfer to production
  • Deep knowledge and experience with active implant devices (e.g. Implantable Pulse Generators, Leads) or other implantable components highly desired
  • Must possess strong understanding and working knowledge of ISO 13485 and FDA 21CFR820 based Quality Systems and Design Control
  • Must be proficient in interpreting product requirements, design specifications, technical drawings, and other relevant technical documents
  • Must have proficiency in MS Office software
  • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English
  • Willingness to travel, if required



Competitive market salary range from $170,000 to $210,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
