The HR Specialist supports the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department by executing tasks related to employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, HR compliance, payroll and records management. This role serves as a key point of contact for employees and managers, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices. The HR Specialist ensures timely and accurate processing of HR transactions, contributes to a positive employee experience, and helps maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist with the administration of core HR programs, including compensation, benefits, leave management, disciplinary action, investigations, performance and talent management, health and safety, and learning and development initiatives.
  • Coordinate and track employee compliance training, continuing education, and technical certifications.
  • Support the HR team with various projects and tasks as assigned.
  • Coordinate with insurance providers, medical professionals, and employees regarding workers' compensation claims.


Payroll Processing:
* Collaborate with HR team members to process accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll.
* Maintain comprehensive payroll records, including timekeeping, deductions, HSA, and 401(k)/ROTH contributions.
* Respond to employee payroll inquiries and coordinate with internal departments or third-party vendors for resolution.

HRIS Data Management:
* Maintain and update employee data in the HRIS to ensure accuracy and compliance.
* Run HR reports and analyze data for insights and decision-making.
* Assist with system upgrades, process improvements, troubleshooting, and implementation of new HR technologies

Employee Relations Support:
* Provide initial support for employee relations issues, reinforce a positive and inclusive work environment in collaboration with HR leadership.
* Coordinate and analyze employee engagement and satisfaction surveys; provide actionable insights.
* Conduct exit interviews and summarize feedback for leadership with improvement recommendations.

Government Reporting & Compliance:
* Assist in adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices.
* Assist in and submit required reports such as EEO-1, OSHA logs, ACA documentation, etc.
* Assist in updating company policies to reflect current legislation and workplace needs.

Qualifications and Skills:



  • Associate's Degree in related field or High School Diploma
  • AND minimum of 2-year general human resources experience
  • OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with HRIS software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
