This is a 100% Contract position for 2 years with the possibility of extension or conversion to career status.

DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Project Policy Analyst, the incumbent provides experienced-level professional support to the Office of the EVC and Academic Affairs in the planning, appraisal, analysis and implementation of major campus programs, strategic initiatives and special projects. Participates in long- and short-range planning, and advises on complex and important issues affecting Academic Affairs and/or the campus. Collaborates with partners to coordinate the development, implementation and monitoring of new programs and processes. Develops and implements transition plans as projects are completed to ensure that unit personnel are able to continue managing business processes on an ongoing basis.

The Program Coordinator conducts analytical studies on various policies, projects, and programs, providing support for Educational Innovation consultations for self-supporting programs by coordinating consultations and tracking the progress of proposals and program development. The Coordinator gathers information and prepares reports relating to state authorization, reviews state policy changes annually, and receives inquiries from departments. Developing solutions to complex issues, the candidate demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions, analyzing problems and issues of diverse scope, and determining solutions.

Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of analytical practices, policies and procedures; researches, analyzes and develops solutions to a wide range of issues. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Primarily deals with policies, programs and proposals which are complex in nature and diverse in scope. Projects will be related to strategic planning, administrative services and operations, technology, and process improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

  • Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals / analyses.

  • Demonstrated ability to support project objectives, determine and address potential barriers; identify required resources, identify process steps and milestones; and adjust action plans to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes. Ability to clearly articulate goals, strategies and direction.

  • Knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs.

  • Strong policy analysis techniques.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective, productive and cooperative working, reporting and professional relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, working collaboratively with individuals and groups to incorporate their ideas and adapt to their needs.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.

  • Working knowledge of the UC San Diego organizational structure and academic and administrative policies, procedures, and practices, preferred.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on Background Check results.

  • Duties may require direct contact and/or supervision of children (defined as individuals under the age of 18); completion of the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) form will be required.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $71,600 - $127,400 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $34.29 - $61.02

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
