As a Buyer you will:
This position will be responsible for maintaining supply inventory levels required for effective company operations. This position will be accountable for negotiating agreements with potential vendors as well as being charged with conducting regular price comparisons to ensure that STEICO is being provided with the best price for each product purchased.
What will my responsibilities include?
- Develop, maintain, and qualify suppliers following STEICO active processes for necessary support of raw material, fittings, and outside services.
- Regular visits to suppliers to ensure quality and delivery standards
- Generate, review and action vendor delivery reports also working along with Quality Dept for vendor quality reports
- Maintain accurate reports and current database of vendor information and open order reports
- Send RFQ's to vendors identifying special requirements by generating and reviewing purchasing demand reports
- Evaluate bids as well as negotiate prices and terms for purchased goods and services.
- Create purchase orders for spot buys and long lead materials, supplies and services at the most favorable terms for STEICO.
- Verify with vendors orders are ready for pickup. Prepare Drivers Logs for scheduled pickups.
- Create RPO documentation for return shipments including replacements or credit memos.
- Work with Accounting for updating or correcting PO's from suppliers or outside processors.
- Communicate and participate in meetings between STEICO and vendors regarding open order reports and priority items. Update MRP system to ensure proper alignment and accurately update notes.
- When necessary as backup, review blue prints and specifications ensuring correct revisions and Manufacturer are being used prior to procurement of fittings and hardware.
- Follow active process for measuring supply inventory and determining purchasing needs based on quarterly and annual numbers and customer forecasts.
- Other reasonable duties as business and operational needs dictate.
What key skills and experience do I need?
- Must be able to communicate and interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization, both verbally and written
Education and Experience:
Requires high school diploma, or equivalent
5 years in manufacturing environment with at least 4 years in a purchasing role in that environment
Requires working knowledge of computer, scanner, facsimile machine, copier and any other standard office equipment
Basic math skills and the ability to utilize a calculator
Intermediate working knowledge in the MS Office suite: Word, Excel, and Outlook
Requires ability to assess facts and develop conclusions
