This position will oversee the Cariopulmonary, Respiratory, and Lines teams.


Responsibilities

Job Summary
The Director-Cardiopulmonary will develop and implement clinical programs to improve efficiencies within the organization. Direct all operational aspects of the Respiratory Department, Sepsis Alert team and Vascular Access team to include operations, quality outcomes, customer service, human resources, productivity, and patient experience. Ensure that all areas and programs are properly staffed and directed to operate at optimal safety and productivity performance. Provides training, coaching, development, motivation and proper succession planning to advance and evolve the supervisor staff. Address customer and employee satisfaction issues promptly and professionally. Directly responsible for the employee engagement and safety outcomes. Communicates effectively with CNO liaison and other Directors and Supervisors by sharing information on best practices, business opportunities, needs, and competitive intelligence. Recommends desirable changes in policies, practices and goals to actively grow department and programs which exceed patient safety and deliverable expectations. Cooperates fully with other cross functional departments in developing effective care plans, practices and operation standards that promote exceptional outcomes for the patient which meets the organizations vision/mission.
Essential Functions
  • Meets annual WHPUOs productivity bench mark. Works with Finance in composing a department annual budget that meets future growth and needs. Follows COSO guidelines to meet supply ordering, approval, check request and requisition demands. Participates in, as needed, the Respiratory Value Analysis Team with the goal of reducing cost and standardizing equipment across the network
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to identify risk-analysis strategies and resources needed to ensure the safe delivery of care. Active member of the interdisciplinary team designing and directing cost-effective care within their assigned facilities. Accountable for quality indicators including CLABSI rates; SEPSIS mortality rate; COPD readmission; and for Pediatric Asthma readmission and Education. Maintains goals that are measured including patient satisfaction, length of stay, patient hospital experience, staff satisfaction, safety, and accuracy.
  • Responsible for department annual employee engagement score. Collaborates with facility departments in the continual increase of patient experience score. Supports the identification, process improvement and general ideas brought forth by the departmental ACT team. Maintains collaborative working relationships with physicians, nurses and facility leadership members. Oversees all daily rounding requirements addressing any issues and concerns brought forth by team members, patients or other healthcare providers
  • Implements best practice systems and care models in line with both current and new trends. Participates in or leads activities related to research, quality assurance and quality of care. Supports and facilitates a high level of competency of staff for patient care. Identifies, coordinates, facilitates and supports educational opportunities to foster a culture of employee development. Develops collaborative relationships with schools of nursing and other external organizations.
  • Oversee the staff and ensure adequate staffing levels, inclusive of hiring/onboarding, evaluating, managing performance, coaching and developing employees ensuring employee productivity, quality of work, and alignment of goals with our mission, vision, and values. Ensure compliance with all policies, financial stewardship by being accountable for the financial integrity around development and maintenance of department budget.

Education
  • Master's Degree - Preferred
  • Master's Degree in Healthcare related field or eight (8) years related work experience. - Required
Experience
  • 10 years of respiratory management experience and LEAN process improvement concepts - Preferred
  • 5 years experience in Respiratory Care with three (3) years of management experience. - Required
Licenses and Certifications
  • Current and valid Registered Therapist Professional Registration - Required
  • Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) Current and valid State of Arizona Respiratory Care Practitioner license - Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - Required
  • Vascular Access Board Certification (VA-BC) or Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS) or Neonatal & Pediatric Specialist (NPS) or Six Sigma or Lean process improvement certification - Preferred
