  • Base Pay Range:$39.90 to 58.86 per hour, based on experience.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

  1. Coordinates and manages change initiatives for specialty areas, including instrumentation, sterile processing, equipment, materials management, vendors, and case card systems.

  2. Serves as the clinical liaison and primary contact for specialty service surgeons, coordinating and planning advanced procedures, including specific equipment and instrumentation needs.

  3. Assesses, develops, plans, implements, and evaluates specialty-specific projects, including managing detailed proposals, incorporating evidence-based research, and enhancing patient care outcomes.

  4. Negotiates and collaborates with key stakeholders, including surgeons, administrative leaders, and staff, to support specialty service initiatives.

  5. Facilitates consultation and serves as a resource for staff regarding equipment, procedures, and staffing needs within the specialty area.

  6. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of educational practices relevant to surgical services within the specialty.

  7. Educates and instructs staff on specialty-specific concepts, procedures, equipment, and processes using appropriate instructional technologies.

  8. Provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for assigned patients.

  9. Provides leadership, mentorship, and clinical guidance to assigned, non-RN clinical support team members.

  10. Maintains nursing care standards and ensures adherence to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

  11. Plans, directs, and participates in patient, family, community, and professional education. Participates in nursing research, staff meetings, in-service training, and quality and performance improvement activities.

  12. Performs the responsibilities of an operating room RN.

  13. Develops, coordinates, and maintains daily staffing schedules to ensure the appropriate level of unit coverage and continuity of care.

  14. Monitors time and attendance in alignment with MU Health Care policies and practices, ensuring accuracy of records and timely submittal/approval for payroll purposes.

  15. May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Existing staff in this title as of 9/28/25 may substitute an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities can be acquired.

  • One (1) year of operating room or surgery RN experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification by the Competency & Credentialing Institute (CCI).

  • Supervisory experience.

  • Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
