What You Do. Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Uses established procedures to accurately and timely process inventory and non-inventory accounts payable transactions in VIM and SAP.
- Analyzes and processes non-routine/exception accounts payable transactions.
- Requires knowledge of standard concepts, practices and procedures within the Accounts Payable field.
- It is essential to gain knowledge about and understand the critical nature of accurate financial data allocation at the point of invoice verification.
- Requires competent understanding of the technical intricacies of the SAP inventory process, including info records and purchase orders as they pertain to pricing, variances and general ledger distributions.
- Is responsible for the SAP Goods Received/Invoice Received reporting, reconciling discrepancies.
- Interacts with the Procurement Department, Shipping/Receiving Departments, other internal customers and outside vendors to investigate invoice pricing and quantity differences, developing expertise over certain plants/vendors.
- Ensure that internal controls and procedures are followed and identify any discrepancies to management.
- Act as a back up to co-workers within the department.
- Prioritize and organizes workflow, handles routine inquiries and multiple tasks simultaneously. Makes recommendations for process improvements based on observation and system analysis.
- Understands accounts payable sales and use tax guidelines and issues, working with the Tax Department as required.
- Answers routine accounts payable vendor inquiries, audits and statement reconciliations in a timely manner. Forwards sensitive or complex vendor issues to appropriate supervisor for resolution.
- Maintains excellent client service relationships with internal and external clients. Understands the importance of confidentiality in all these relationships.
Your Education and Experience.
- Associates degree in Accounting (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Accounts Payable Specialist Certification desired.
