Responsibilities

SCREENING OF APPLICANTS BEGINS IMMEDIATELY AND CONTINUES UNTIL POSITION IS FILLED

Minimum Hourly Rate: $20.00 Maximum Hourly Rate: $23.00

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will work closely with the lead program nurse to assure continual and consistent supervision, safety, crisis management, and therapeutic interventions and program structure is implemented in the residential setting for youth. This positon will assure staff have the resources they need to provide care in a safe and therapeutic setting. The Lead Mental Health Specialist will function as a mentor to all staff and will assure all staff are compliant with the supervision and adherence to the program schedule. This position will work closely with the lead nurse/nursing staff in assuring safety of the clients in a therapeutic and structured setting. The Lead MHS will be the role model for the milieu staff and will assure program structure is adhered to and maintained. This position will assist in leading team/unit meetings and will assist in the resolution of milieu issues as they arise with the team members and nurisng administration. This individual will work alternating weekends and holidays and will be part of the daily staffing.

Qualifications

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
* Frequently stands, walks, kneels, reaches while working with patients/residents/students.
* Requires full range of body motion including handling and physical restraint of patients.
* Ability to perform CPR and first aid.
* Ability to work rotating shifts. Ability to drive a vehicle if necessary.
* Must be able to speak, read and write.
* Ability to visually supervise residents & hear requests for assistance from patients and staff.
* Emotional stability necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.
* Vision and hearing sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
SKILLS:
Requires organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality.Requires creativity, high energy and problem solving skills. Good verbal and written skills. Ability to rotate shifts and programs, as necessary. Ability to work as one part of a team approach for the care of the patients/residents/students. Demonstrates ability to problem solve, resolve crisis situations, and maintain a calm composure under stressful situations. Invested int he growth and safe culture of the RTC residential program.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
Must be at least 21 years of age; requires an Associate's Degree in the behvioral sciences (or equivalent to 60 college credits) and has worked at least two years in an adolescent residential setting; supervisory experience is preferred. Bachelor's degree in the behvioral sciences will be preferred. Must have extensive working knowledge with high risk youth in a residential setting.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Must meet or exceed hospital and regulatory agency training requirements.

Performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
