Compensation: $135,000 - $140,000 base

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled accounting professional to lead the compensation accounting function, one of the most critical expense areas on the firm's P&L. This high-visibility role offers direct exposure to senior leadership, including the CFO, and requires a mix of technical accounting expertise, strong analytical skills, and team management experience.

The Manager, Financial Accounting will oversee a small team responsible for compensation-related calculations, reconciliations, and reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working independently while driving process improvements. Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support a compensation accounting team to ensure accurate and timely execution of responsibilities.

  • Perform and review monthly compensation and bonus calculations across multiple business divisions.

  • Review changes to broker or employee agreements and update compensation accruals accordingly.

  • Prepare and distribute commission and bonus calculations to management and business heads.

  • Maintain accurate records of equity and deferred compensation plans.

  • Partner with Payroll, HR, and Finance to ensure proper communication of deferral amounts and other compensation-related data.

  • Review and post journal entries related to payroll, bonuses, benefits, and other employee-related expenses.

  • Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting for compensation expenses.

  • Partner with internal control teams to strengthen processes and ensure compliance with established policies.

  • Support internal and external audits with reconciliations and documentation.

  • Lead or contribute to process improvement initiatives to drive efficiency and accuracy.

  • Provide ad hoc analysis and reporting to senior management.

Qualifications

Essential

  • 4-8 years of progressive accounting experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).

  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently.

  • Skilled at managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines under pressure.

  • Ability to collaborate across departments and influence stakeholders.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • CPA or equivalent professional credential (a plus).
