Description

Responsible for writing copy and producing marketing and public relations materials for internal and external college audiences.


Description of Essential Functions (critical tasks)

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Develop marketing materials based on individual client objectives that meet the highest standards of excellence.
  2. Responsible for conducting intake meetings with faculty and staff to determine marketing messages audiences and objectives to reach goals. Provide guidance on strategies to meet those objectives and then following through the project life cycle including creation proofing and corrections client meetings and completed pieces.
  3. Write content for website and marketing collateral in alignment with the college's marketing strategies.
  4. Manage multiple projects at one time and prioritize workload to effectively meet deadlines in a fast-paced high turn around environment.
  5. Create print and web-based materials including updating website content.
  6. Photograph college events and employees process those photos and maintain digital files.
  7. Create online digital marketing materials.
  8. Post photographs on the website.
  9. Preflight documents or set up documents appropriately for the Print Shop and ensure marketing materials meet postal regulations.
  10. Provide professional services to office inquiries in the absence of other team members
  11. Evolve with industry and college demands.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

Specific Functional Job Requirements

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, digital communication, graphic design or related field required. Writing, design and photography experience required.

Experience Requirements:
  • Demonstrate professional experience in communications, writing, graphic design field and previous experience in an office environment, knowledgeable with Adobe Creative Suite programs. Experience in creating online promotional pieces and web content management system. Portfolio required.

Knowledge:
  • Website content management systems, Writing and communications process, design principles such as font usage, color schemes, electronic design process, DSLR photography knowledge, preflighting, develop ideas from concept to final product, manipulate photos, understanding of the printing industry, editing marks, ability to work with extensive filing system and use electronic forms of office communication.

Skills:
  • Communications, interviewing and writing, graphic design skills, Adobe Suite software, WordPress or similar platform, digital photography, general Windows software (Outlook), speed and accuracy in graphic design software programs, scanning, handle multiple projects, prioritize workload, communication skills, photo enhancement

Personal Requirements:
  • Self-starter and ability to work independently, good communicator, ability to understand a client's instructions/goals for projects and develop strategies and materials that meet those objectives, accept constructive criticism, understand editing changes, execute changes, grows and develops self to meet industry and job changes.
