Description

The Cook Lead is responsible for proper food prep, cooking and service of food while recognizing special diets, resident's dietary needs and requests. This position is also responsible for maintaining work areas in proper order and following established policies and procedures of the facility while demonstrating high levels of service. Point of contact in support of the Leadership Team.

Sand Prairie includes 42 assisted living rental apartments, while Prairie Hill offers 43 independent and assisted living apartments, plus 20 memory care residences. Schedule: Full-Time. 5:30a-2p. 40 hours per week. Every other weekend and every other holiday. On Call every 4th weekend.

Pay: The targeted pay range for this job is $21.00 - $24.00 per hour. Ecumen considers a variety of factors when determining new hire pay including experience, qualifications, and, when applicable, certifications, licenses, and education.

Essential Job Responsibilities:




  1. Provides friendly, responsive service to residents, families, and guests.



  2. Prepares, cooks, and serves meals; operates and maintains kitchen equipment.



  3. Follows recipes and directions accurately, adjusting for different group sizes and minimizing waste.



  4. Maintains food and supply inventory; assists with ordering and restocking.



  5. Supports and guides dining staff; serves as the point of contact in the absence of leadership.



  6. Keeps work area clean, safe, and organized; labels and rotates food properly.



  7. Coordinates with other departments to plan for special events and ensure adequate staffing and supplies.



  8. Prepares appropriate meals for special diets and responds to resident requests.



  9. Follows all safety and sanitation protocols.



  10. Works well with others and supports team members as needed.



  11. Performs other duties as assigned.





Minimum Required Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certified Food Protection Manager in accordance with MN Department of Health or eligible within 90-days of hire
  • Commercial kitchen experience
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written
  • Ability to follow all safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the facility including but not limited to: Vulnerable Adult and Abuse Policy, HIPAA, Resident's Bill of Rights, Universal Precaution, AWAIR, OSHA, Right to know, SDS, ADA, HUD Policy and Procedures, Fair Housing laws and regulations



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Previous senior care experience
  • Culinary training, certification or degree
  • Leadership experience
