The role of the Training Coordinator is a one-of-a-kind position that combines the best of IT training with the altruistic aims of empowering students to learn, grow, and succeed in their creative discipline. Ideal candidates will have a shared passion for student success, empowerment, and engagement. Part teacher, part mentor, part techie... this position requires face-to-face work with undergraduate students and hands-on work with all aspects of technology training across campus.

What you'll do and what you'll bring:

Position Function:

The Technology Training and Accessibility Coordinator will support IT's goal of making powerful, innovative, and helpful technology tools available to the entire campus community, regardless of ability. From internal training opportunities within the Digital Corps and campus-wide software instruction for students, faculty, and staff, to software accessibility reviews and technology accommodation plans, the Coordinator will power up all Cardinals to use technology as an enhancement to the academic and business processes across the institution. By leveraging strong, proven pedagogical approaches and modern accessibility standards, the Coordinator will support technology expertise and access for the campus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Coordinate and develop training opportunities for Digital Corps students, including skills-based training focused on industry-standard tools and practices, an annual professional development workshop series to prepare graduates for the workforce, and special events focused on training and professional development.
2. Deliver university-wide training and workshops for faculty, staff, and students in collaboration with Ball State partners - like Adobe, Google, and others.
3. Support faculty with requests for supplemental classroom instruction focused on creative media and technology.
4. Advise on university-wide technology initiatives, ensuring that accessibility is integrated from the design phase through implementation.
5. Manage university digital accessibility testing operations, test technology, and provide feedback on ADA/508 compliance. Communicate with vendors to address accessibility issues and develop solutions or workarounds.
6. Serve as a campus-wide digital accessibility consultant.
7. Serve as an accessibility consultant in the procurement process, conducting accessibility reviews for software acquisitions.
8. Lead a team of student employees in providing campus training and reviewing accessibility standards.
9. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university by the date of appointment. Or, in lieu of a Bachelor's degree:
* Associate's degree plus an additional combination of education or experience in education/training equivalent to two years.
Or
* High school diploma or GED plus an additional combination of education or experience in education/training equivalent to four years.

Proven experience in education/training and accessible technology.
A successful candidate will have excellent writing and editing skills, and the patience to lead, train, and coach users of all technology skills and backgrounds. In addition, crucial soft skills - like time management, collaboration, and creativity - are highly valued.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in communication and presentation skills; ability to quickly adapt and become familiar with university processes and procedures and quickly establish rapport and confidence among multiple university units and levels of the organization. Demonstrated experience with web accessibility software, accessibility principles, and knowledge of ADA, Section 504/508, and WCAG standards.
