We are looking for a dynamic Professional Military Education (PME) Specialist to join our team.CATHEXIS seeks an experienced Professional Military Education (PME) Specialist support of Office of the Undersecretary Secretary of Defense Strategic Readiness (OUSD-SR)/Warfighter Development, Warfighter Education office. This individual will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating educational programs and curricula for military personnel. This includes ensuring the alignment of educational offerings with military doctrine, strategies, and operational needs to enhance the knowledge, skills, and abilities of service members for effective performance in military operations. This position will be located onsite at the Pentagon daily.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and evaluate content to support development of strategically minded joint warfighters, who think critically and can creatively apply military power to inform national strategy, conduct globally integrated operations, and fight under conditions of disruptive change
- Be able to assess and identify if PME curriculum meets policy and other requirements to provide graduates the initial knowledge and skills to prepare them for service as warfighting joint leaders, senior staff officers, and strategists who can:
- Discern the military dimensions of a challenge affecting national interest, frame the issue at the policy level, and recommend viable military options within the overarching frameworks of globally integrated operations
- Conduct joint warfighting, at the operational to strategic levels, as all domain, globally integrated warfare, including the ability to integrate allied and partner contributions
- Execute and adapt strategy through campaigns and operations
- Possess critical and creative thinking skills, emotional intelligence, and effective written, verbal, and visual communications skills to support the development and implementation of strategies and complex operations including the ability to draft, edit, and finalize high-level correspondence, briefings, and reports for senior military leaders and Congressional audiences. This includes the ability to translate complex military concepts into clear, concise, and persuasive language appropriate for diverse audiences
- Develop and design PME policy that are in line with current military doctrine, tactics, techniques, and procedures
- Coordinate with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and relevance of course content
- Research and implement instructional policy, strategies and methodologies conducive to adult learning and professional development
- Conduct ongoing evaluation of PME courses to ensure they meet learning objectives and are updated according to changes in military strategies and technologies
- Collaborate with senior military officials and educators to assess training needs and develop learning objectives
- Analyze feedback from course participants and make required policy, regulation and other required adjustments to improve course effectiveness and student satisfaction and use feedback to refine written materials, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with strategic communication goals
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with educational best practices and emerging military challenges and maintain expertise in writing styles and protocols suitable for senior military and government officials.
- Contribute to scholarly research and writing in the field of military education and doctrine
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, standards, and accreditation requirements
- Develop and manage relationships with educational institutions, defense agencies, and international military education organizations
Requirements:
- Minimum of an Active Secret Clearance is required
- Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Education, Military History, Professional Military Education, National Security, or a related field
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years of related experience with a Bachelor's Degree, or thirteen (13) years or more related experience with a Master's degree
- Extensive experience in military operations, planning, and/or training
- Experience in analysis and development of comprehensive joint action officer training programs for Combatant Commands and DoD organizations
- Familiarity with the structure, culture, and needs of military organizations
- Demonstrated ability to design, deliver, and evaluate professional educational programs
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to collaborate with military personnel and civilians
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated experience in preparing strategic-level written products, including Congressional inquiries, executive summaries, policy papers, talking points, and official memoranda for senior military leaders (e.g., General/Flag Officer level)
- Must be able to edit and refine complex documents under tight deadlines, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with applicable regulations and writing standards. Experience with different communication styles, including persuasive writing, informational writing, and writing for specific audiences
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment including experience using a correspondence and task management system (e.g., CATMS, TMT, or similar DoD system) to track, manage, and respond to official correspondence and action items is required. Must be proficient in using the system to assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of actions. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for managing a high volume of correspondence
- High degree of initiative, discretion, and the ability to work independently. Ability to conduct thorough research, synthesize information from diverse sources, and develop well-reasoned arguments to support recommendations. Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information
- As part of the application process, candidates are highly encouraged to submit a portfolio of 2-3 relevant writing samples demonstrating their ability to produce clear, concise, and strategically aligned documents. Samples may include policy papers, briefing documents, executive summaries, or excerpts from larger reports. Candidates may redact any proprietary or classified information as necessary, while still demonstrating writing skill
CATHEXIS offers competitive compensation packages to all eligible employees. Our goal is to provide a compensation package that reflects the value you bring to our team, is competitive with market rates, and promotes your financial security and personal well-being. The annual salary range for this role is $155,000 - $170,000. Please note that the salary information provided is a general guideline.
