Description

WCTC is committed to responsibly integrating AI technologies to enhance student learning, optimize administrative processes, and prepare our graduates for an AI-enabled workforce. The AI Project Manager will join us at a pivotal moment as we develop and launch our comprehensive AI strategy. This position will be instrumental in positioning WCTC as a leader in AI integration within higher education.

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Project Manager at Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC) will play a pivotal role in advancing the College's strategic internal initiatives related to AI. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, this position will be the primary implementer of the College's vision for AI at WCTC. The AI Project Manager will coordinate the AI subcommittees, manage AI-related projects, facilitate communication and knowledge-sharing among employees, and assist in developing AI-related content training for employees. This role will ensure the successful implementation and evolution of the College's AI initiatives while maintaining consistent internal communication and training on AI matters across the institution.

The annual salary for this position starts at $90,000K+


Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. AI Strategy Leadership:
    • Oversee the implementation and evolution of the college's AI initiatives.
    • Facilitate the AI Core Committee, including developing the committee's vision.
    • Establish AI-related goals aligned with the College's strategic direction.
    • Develop metrics to measure the impact and success of AI implementation across college operations.
    • Create and maintain a roadmap for AI integration that aligns with WCTC's technology infrastructure and strategic plan.
  2. Program and Project Management:
    • Facilitate the Learning and Curriculum Subcommittee and coordinate Business Process Subcommittee activities.
    • Manage the progress of AI-related projects and communicate updates to stakeholders.
    • Identify and secure necessary resources for AI projects and initiatives.
    • Assist in developing new AI-related programming and integrating AI into existing curriculum.
    • Create AI tools to support faculty and enhance student learning.
  3. Stakeholder Engagement and Communications:
    • Build compelling use cases demonstrating the value of AI in educational and administrative contexts.
    • Develop and maintain effective communication about AI for faculty, staff, and administration.
    • Ensure AI resources are easily accessible to the WCTC community.
    • Facilitate knowledge sharing among faculty applying AI within their curricula.
    • Utilize the Virtual Center for Innovation and Inclusion to encourage sharing of AI experiences and innovations.
  4. Training and Capacity Building:
    • Identify training needs and opportunities across departments.
    • Develop and deliver AI training programs to faculty and staff.
    • Coordinate and train designated AI Champions in each department to enhance the adoption of AI tools and practices.
    • Track participation in training programs and implement badging systems to recognize achievements.
    • Ensure AI Champions can train others in utilizing AI to streamline business processes.
  5. Research and Knowledge Management:
    • Stay updated on the latest AI developments and trends.
    • Research how other institutions integrate AI into their operations and curricula.
    • Identify and document relevant AI use cases applicable to WCTC's goals.
    • Create and maintain a knowledge base of AI applications specific to technical college environments.
    • Present information about WCTC's AI programming to external stakeholders and at industry forums.

Minimum Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • A Bachelor's degree in educational technology, computer science, information systems, or a related field and two years of experience in technology project management, preferably in higher education or technical education settings, are required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with current AI technologies.
  • Strong project management skills with experience managing multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for various audiences.
  • Experience developing and delivering technology training programs.
  • Background in facilitating organizational change and technology adoption.
  • Strong independent work ethic with the ability to take initiative and lead projects to completion.
  • Proficiency in applying AI tools, educational platforms, and related technologies.

Hours
Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
