The Production Control Analyst is responsible for aligning demand, capacity, and material availability to ensure customer needs are met while maintaining operational efficiency. This role blends production control, demand forecasting, and buyer/planner responsibilities. The position requires strong knowledge of equipment capacity, production smoothing, and purchasing strategies, along with the ability to collaborate across functions to provide solutions when capacity or supply gaps arise. Working closely with the Inventory and Purchasing Manager, the Production Control Analyst will contribute to strategy, risk mitigation, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING(% of Time)

Demand Forecasting & Production Planning - 30%

  • Analyze demand signals and customer forecasts to create production plans that align with equipment and labor capacity.
  • Identify capacity shortfalls and propose solutions such as overtime, alternate routings, subcontracting, or schedule smoothing.
  • Balance short-term and long-term demand requirements to reduce volatility and improve schedule adherence.

Capacity Analysis & Production Smoothing - 25%

  • Develop and maintain detailed knowledge of equipment and process capacity across the plant.
  • Monitor throughput, constraints, and bottlenecks; recommend proactive adjustments.
  • Implement production smoothing strategies to stabilize flow and improve on-time delivery.

Buyer/Planner Duties - 20%

  • Support purchasing activities, including reviewing purchase requisitions, assisting with vendor communication, and ensuring timely delivery of raw materials.
  • Collaborate with the Inventory and Purchasing Manager to align inventory targets with production needs.
  • Contribute to sourcing and cost-saving opportunities while supporting supplier performance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Strategy - 15%

  • Partner with the Inventory and Purchasing Manager to develop strategies for balancing supply, demand, and capacity.
  • Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) meetings to support material disposition and decision making.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to drive process improvements.
  • Work with the Production Operations Team as a liaison with production scheduling, routings, and priorities.
  • Provide reporting, metrics, and insights to management on production, capacity, and material health.
  • Support special projects and continuous improvement initiatives as assigned.

Inventory & Obsolescence Management - 10%

  • Monitor OSMI (Obsolete, Surplus, and Misapplied Inventory) to identify risks and create action plans to mitigate exposure.
  • Recommend disposition strategies for obsolete or slow-moving inventory.
  • Assist in cycle counts and reconciliation of production variances.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

If you can do everything listed above, you've got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

  • Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or 5-10 years of experience in Production Capacity Planning, or Supply Chain / Materials Management roles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Knowledge of MRB processes and working with OSMI.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles, production smoothing, and constraint management.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to work cross-functionally and independently.
  • Ability to balance short-term execution with long-term strategic planning.
  • Collaborative mindset, able to work across multiple departments.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage data effectively.
  • Solution-oriented approach when facing capacity or supply constraints.

This job operates in a professional office environment where standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers/scanners, etc. are frequently used.

This job requires 10% domestic travel.

This full-time, exempt position is located in Riverside CA.

Pay

$70,400 - $112,600 / Year
