Assists with day to day administration and communication of employee benefits program. Responsibilities include performing and/or assisting with administrative functions to include processing employee benefit elections and enrollments, resolving employee benefit issues and maintaining/updating databases and related files.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Ensure that benefit operations meet service needs in accordance with policy, applicable deadlines, quality standards, and legal requirements. Interface with other departments to carry out benefit activities.
  2. Assists with day to day administration of employee benefits program which involves processing enrollments, elections, and tuition reimbursement; communicates with insurance carriers, employees, and others as necessary.
  3. Maintains and updates computer databases and related files which may involve performing system interfaces.
  4. Assists with communication of employee benefit program, which involves responding to employee questions and concerns, providing policy interpretations, and determining and executing, as appropriate, methods for problem resolution.
  5. Ensures compliance with federal and/or state regulations.
  6. Assists with annual and monthly benefit projects to include open enrollment, annual SPD updates, PTO cashout, Pension plan data review and other projects.
  7. Process all employee leave of absence paperwork. Including updating LOA spreadsheet, maintaining FMLA & ADAAA records, etc.
  8. Works with insurance carrier on employee complaint issues. Works with Benefits Coordinator to review benefit/employee issues.
  9. Performs weekly benefits orientation and trainings as needed for the organization.
  10. Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injuryaccident to Manager.

REQUIRED:

  1. Three (3) years experience in benefits administration.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of employee benefit programs and related regulations and administration procedures.
  3. Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management, or related field or some college & (3) years of human resources/benefits experience
  4. Demonstrated skills in the operation of personal computers and the use of database and word-processing programs.
  5. Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  6. Ability to coordinate multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

PREFERRED:

  1. Certification in Benefits through workshops, seminars, or course work.
