The Mongan Institute at Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking a full-time Senior Data Analyst to provide analytic and data management support under Dr. Stephen Bartels. The Senior Data Analyst will work with a team of investigators on externally funded research studies and will participate in a wide range of analytic approaches, including large-scale observational dataset analyses and longitudinal intervention and implementation research studies. The position requires strong data management and data analytic skills, experience with observational and longitudinal datasets (secondary and primary), close attention to detail and timelines, discretion in handling sensitive information, and strong interpersonal skills.
The Senior Data Analyst will report directly to Dr. Bartels and the Project Director assigned to their projects, and will play a key role in a 4-year project funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), along with other related federally funded studies. The Senior Data Analyst will work with a dynamic team of investigators, including data scientists, health services researchers, clinicians, and biostatisticians. They will be responsible for data management, analysis and visualization; dashboard development for project monitoring and evaluation; and communicating findings in presentations and manuscripts.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):
The Senior Data Analyst will:

  • Lead data analyses for one or multiple studies at the Institute.
  • Create longitudinal datasets using observational and newly collected intervention research data
  • Conduct statistical tests, advanced modeling, and analysis interpretation under the direction of faculty biostatisticians.
  • Generate ad hoc data reports and analysis to inform project planning.
  • Present project progress and findings reports to partnering agency executive directors.
  • Manage data curation and deposition into the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research.
  • Share data in creative and accessible ways that are inclusive of all team members regardless of familiarity with data and statistics.
  • Build data literacy and capacity to interpret and apply data for decision-making within their team and among partner agencies.
  • Apply excellent statistical programming skills alongside excellent written and verbal communication skills within a team-based work environment.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Master's degree or PhD in statistics, biostatistics, public health or other related social science field with strong quantitative emphasis.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience in data management, reporting tools, and statistical analysis software. Stata, R, and/or Python is preferred
  • Strong skills in data management, statistical analysis, and professional verbal presentation in a research setting preferred.
  • Facility with data collection platforms like REDCap and visualization tools like Tableau or PowerBI.
  • Experience managing diverse data-related components of large, multifaceted and fast paced projects.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to function well as a team member.
  • This position requires attention to detail, especially in ensuring data quality and accuracy. The ability to work simultaneously on various tasks and to effectively contribute to the project team are also essential
