This is for a future opening.



STGi is currently seeking a Medical Director to provide services at the West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility in Clarksburg, WV.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • Coordinate and oversee medical care to ensure residents receive timely and appropriate treatment.





  • Monitor and promote residents' attainment or maintenance of their highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being.





  • Supervise and collaborate with other licensed practitioners, including Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs), ensuring they operate within their regulatory scope of practice as defined by state law.





  • Lead regular meetings with department directors and supervisors to address and support the medical and functional needs of the resident population.





  • Assist in the development, planning, and evaluation of the facility's medical and nursing programs in partnership with the Administrator and Director of Nursing.





  • Provide medical consultation for new admissions, changes in resident condition, and complex cases.





  • Serve as a liaison between medical staff, nursing staff, residents, and family members to ensure clear communication and high-quality care.





  • Establish and implement clinical protocols and policies in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.





  • Conduct periodic medical audits and participate in quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives.





  • Ensure proper documentation of medical care in residents' records to maintain regulatory compliance and accurate medical histories.





  • Coordinate and support end-of-life care planning, palliative care, and hospice services.





  • Provide on-call services on a rotating schedule and be available for crisis scenarios as needed.



Required Skills

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:




  • Must possess a current unencumbered active license to practice as a Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy in the state of West Virginia.






  • Must be knowledgeable of clinical geriatrics and nursing facility medical practices.






  • Must be knowledgeable of the rules and regulations governing medical and nursing services in nursing care facilities.






  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.





  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors and the general public.



Required Experience

REQUIRED EDUCATION:



  • A Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited college of medicine.



WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Works in office areas as well as throughout the facility and its premises.





  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.





  • Is involved with residents, family members, personnel, and visitors under all conditions/circumstances.





  • Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary. On call 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.
