Systems Engineer

The Opportunity:

As a systems engineer supporting an agency's security office, you will use your expertise to develop, update, and or review Risk Management Framework (RMF) documentation to include Security Plans, Implementation Plans, Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), and Risk Assessment Reports. You will ensure system compliance against National Institute Standards and Technology (NIST), Department of Defense (DOD), and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Security Requirements Guides (SRG) and produce evidence of compliance, where necessary. As a systems engineer you will analyze vulnerability scans and provide recommendations for remediations. You will ensure all system connections, such as File Transfer Protocol and Virtual Private Network tunnels meet agency and NIST requirements. In this role, you will also conduct audits on computer systems to detect, prevent, and record computer use and abnormalities.

You Have:

  • Experience in assessing systems using NIST 800-53 and DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), and the Security Requirements Guide (SRG)
  • Experience with RMF Package development, including POAM mitigation statements security plans, risk assessment system or site policies, procedures and processes, and architecture
  • Experience using Windows Operating systems and AWS Services
  • Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take a polygraph exam
  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience in systems engineering, or 7+ years of experience in systems engineering lieu of degree
  • Information Assurance II DOD 8570/8140 or CompTIA Security+ certification

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience testing Security Test Cases for NIST 800-53 Security Controls
  • Experience with Nessus and DoD STIG Remediation
  • Experience troubleshooting system issues
  • Experience using Linux Operating systems

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $62,000.00 to $141,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
