Brief Description

The Emergency Management Coordinator assists BRA's Emergency Manager with implementing the BRA's all-hazards, emergency management plan (EMP) and represents the BRA in emergency response efforts. This is accomplished by working collaboratively with BRA's Emergency Manager to enhance BRA's EMP to ensure consistency with state and federal Emergency Management Program requirements; provide organization-wide technical expertise, guidance, and training; and assist local, county, state or federal emergency management officials when requested. Position is also responsible for developing Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) for BRA owned and/or operated facilities, that comply with state and federal emergency management standards, regulatory requirements and BRA policies and procedures. Successful candidate will have a working knowledge of the Texas Government Code Chapter 418, hierarchies, policies and procedures, the Texas Division of Emergency Management's State of Texas Emergency Management plan, State Operations Center, Regional and local Disaster Districts, and the Texas Emergency Management Council. Additional obligations are to assist with development, execution, and evaluation of training exercises; enhance emergency communication skills with BRA management and operations staff; provide critical thinking in response to potential or existing threats to BRA assets or emergency conditions; prepare documentation to log emergency management response, incident needs; and lessons learned, and fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in emergency management, Risk Management, Public Administration or related field
  • Completed course requirements to earn a bachelor's degree in the field related to the position and is expected to utilize this level of education during the workday to the benefit of the organization.
  • Minimum five to ten years' experience demonstrating of progressively increasing responsibilities or an equivalent combination of education.
  • Valid Class C Driver's License and Good Driving Record
  • Certified Emergency Manager or Certified Texas Emergency Manager preferred, and if not certified, must obtain within two years employment
  • NIMS/ICS Certified, and if not certified, must obtain within one year of employment.


  • Bachelors Degree (in related field) - Completed course requirements to earn a Bachelor's degree in the field related to the position and is expected to utilize this level of education during the work day to the benefit of the organization.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED: Certified Emergency Manager or Certified Texas Emergency Manager is required within two years employment.

SALARY: $95,283.28- $152,453.25 annually. This is an exempt position.
